Billboard Magazine under fire after sexual joke about toddler North West

its not bb's fault? they wrote the headline and inserted the picture on purpose to drag the kardashians, and then s-xualized a baby? who's fault is it then?

They didn't s-xualize a baby. If somebody sees a picture of a baby with its tongue out and views it as something s-xual, that's their own problem. The headline is about North telling paparazzi to go away. I didn't get any s-xual takeaways.

Took me forever to realize what people were seeing as s-xual. It's not Billboard's fault..

I agree.

Exactly. People who are mad about this are the pervy ones.

Quick Question: What did you think the joke meant in the first place?

It's not a joke. It's an article headline for a story about North telling paparazzi to go away.

I din't think the primary meaning of sticking your tongue out was s-xual.

Of course it is not, but do you even know what that idiom means? A child grows up to be similar to its parents, both in behavior and in physical characteristics. Just like @amenvodka said, they could've chose a different photograph yet they used this photo to make a joke (referencing Kim Kardashian's s-x tape).

I didn't see a joke. All I saw was the fact that North West was telling the paps "no pictures". That's it.

Yet Kim is not one who would tell them “no pictures" and either way they could've rephrased the headline as the idiom means that you have behavior similar to your parent. The public when they think of Kim is her infamous s-x tape showing her sucking a penis and they used a specific photo licking a lollipop and Billboard used the headline to garner attention. “North West (Kim Kardashian's daughter) Tells Paparazzi Not to Take Pictures" would fit best.

It took me a while to figure out what was the innuendo, and then it was only after reading the comments on here. I see the little girl sticking out her tongue, but it's not in a mocking way (as a kid would stick their tongue out to taunt another). For a second I thought maybe that was some sort of candy in her hand (like a sucker) but then I realized it's a plastic toy. I don't know why she is making that face (is she speaking? laughing?), but I can see why some might see what I think they are seeing. It's such a disgusting thought, I want to say that wasn't what Billboard intended, but what an odd photo to choose. I'm guessing someone is in serious trouble though, since they've taken the photo down.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

What is wrong with Buzzfeed? Am I missing something?

Buzzfeed has recently been known to write extremely stupid stuff go get clicks such as "Unfollow A Man Day" and are known for having extreme double standards

The joke is ambiguous. Only if you're thinking s-x (tongue = blow job) will the s-x tape be the primary meaning. It could be referencing Kanye's attitude, Kim's attention seeking, etc.

Sickens me how some people think these kind of "jokes" are acceptable. If anyone said something like this at my toddler's expense, I'd be calling for that writer's head on a stick. The defence of "it's only dirty if you have a dirty mind" is irrelevant. The point is, the writer had a dirty mind, put this inappropriate headline around a child and real creeps out there could genuinely find this funny. That's not right, it shouldn't be allowed. If any of you think it's referencing anything other than what it obviously is, you're either hopelessly naive or hopelessly in denial. I want to know how this joke was passed and got printed. It is never ok to make s-xual remarks or jokes about minors, especially infants. This shouldn't have to be said. I mean, there are laws in place about how the media can report on minors (blurring out faces, not mentioning real names, etc), and there's definitely laws about this. But somehow, people seem to think when it's a celebrity's child, these laws don't apply and that's wrong.

At least the kid wasn't eating a banana. Then the s-x joke would be more obvious, and some people would be saying it was racist code for blacks as apes.
