I was watching Trixie Mattel's recap, and while I know Trixie is not exactly Roger Ebert, Trixie made a great point about every scene with her feeling like a "moment". The only weakness is her line delivery which seems a bit stiff at times, it reminds me a little of January Jones, but luckily for her, unlike January Gaga has charisma and screen presence to burn. Carmex 964 Posted October 30, 2015 Share Posted October 30, 2015 In the first episode, when she was meeting with the owner of the Hotel, I found her presence and acting to be a little bit underwhelming. There is definitely different sides to her character, and I think it's kind of confusing and The Countess is an predictable character. For example: They try to make The Countess seem like a high and mighty evil, like Maleficent or something. Prominently in the scene where she's meeting with the Hotel owner, when she slit the Russian girl's throat, or when she was trying to convince Donovan to go to the art exhibit.Then there's the obvious wild s-x driven personality that they make her display in every other scene. I think Episode 2 was really good at dissecting The Countess' character and past, it almost came together. Episode 3 furthered this as well with the Angela/Gaga dynamic. But they have yet to dive into exactly WHY The Countess is so evil, or what her plan is.So in conclusion, sometimes it's intense and amazing, and others it's lukewarm. She's doing great IMO considering it's her first lead role and she's standing out to everyone when surrounded by professional actors. Just a type of dramatic I cant really describe because its so different.the character isn't a far jump from her, all about high art and fashion...but she does a brilliant job portraying it.
