“So ‘Hello’ is about wanting to be at home and wanting to reach out to everyone I've ever hurt - including myself - and apologize for it,” she told the site. When asked if it was about her ex that the single “Someone Like You” was written for, she quickly replied, "That's over and done with, thank f—k. That's been over and done with for f—king years. No, it's not about anyone specifically. It's about friends, ex-boyfriends, it's about myself, it's about my family. It's also about my fans as well. I feel like everyone thinks I'm so far away and I'm not. Everyone thinks I live in f—king America, I don't."

The album, which she has previously described as a “make-up record,” is about her past in many ways.

“The record is about getting older and becoming nostalgic,” she continued. “It's about what was, what is, what might have been. It's about missing things that you had no idea were so precious, like being 18 years old and drinking two litre bottles of cider in Brockwell Park with your mates.”

She is also coming at music from a new perspective. The mother of the now 3-year-old Angelo has embraced becoming a first-time parent, and the experience has humbled her in many ways.

"Becoming a parent and moving past my mid-twenties, I simply don't have the capacity to worry about as many things that I used to really enjoy worrying about,” she said. “I used to f—king love the drama of all of it, but now I'm a mom I only have so much head space. I've got to clear a lot of stuff the f—k out, which is really therapeutic, 'cause I can really hold a grudge. Life is so much easier when you don't hoard your past."

As for raising little Angelo: “It's f—king hard. I thought it would be easy. 'Everyone f—king does it, how hard can it be?' I had no idea. It is hard but it's phenomenal. It's the greatest thing I ever did. He makes me be a d—khead, and he makes me feel young and there's nothing more grounding than a kid kicking off and refusing to do what you're asking of them. It used to be that my own world revolved around me, but now it has to revolve around him."

I now connect with this song even more...

Whispering

I had a couple of friends that suggested this meaning. They took the song as Adele singing to her younger self. I've been hearing it that way since that time.

This album sounds perfect for where I'm at in my life right now. I'm even more excited about it now!

lol I love her

I can relate with all of that for sure. I can even appreciate the song more with this explanation. But I already adore it completely.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
