Let's appreciate the king of parodies :legend:

He actually spent money to go to a private screening to make sure his lyrics were right

He actually was given this idea by her

Dark Anatomy

I am so relived to know that people are still aware of him. He is undoubtedly the KING of parodies. He does what parodies are SUPPOSED TO DO, create new funny lyrics to the melody of the song. It's not about artist shaming.

Also, he does it with so much class and it's still funny.

This

Even better is that he never does it without asking the artist beforehand

I know! He's so respectful. You know you have impact on society when Weird Al parodies you.

Under the "fair use" provision of U.S. copyright law, affirmed by the United States Supreme Court, artists such as Yankovic do not need permission to record aparody.[80] However, as a personal rule and as a means of maintaining good relationships, Yankovic has always sought permission from the original artist before commercially releasing a parody.[8] These communications are typically handled by his manager Jay Levey, but at times Yankovic has asked the artist directly, such as flying to Denver, Colorado, to attend an Iggy Azalea concert and speak to her personally about parodying her song "Fancy".[81] He claims that only about two to three percent of the artists he approaches for permission deny his requests,[82] while many of the rest who approve consider Yankovic's parodies to be a badge of honor and rite of passage in the music industry.
