OracleMonster 1,735
*applause: I agree with everything you just said. "Freedom of speech" is definitely just an excuse to be a **** face and put other people down who have had no problem with you what so ever. Approximately last year, I saw someone whom I follow on Instagram and she posted a photo of a woman that happened to be obese wearing a bikini at the beach and she captioned the photo "I cant! WTF! It should be illegal to be fat ass and wear a bikini" and I left a comment on the photo on how it's ****ed up to put this innocent woman on blast as a platform to get applause and likes on instagram for being a piece of **** social media comedian. This girl posted this poor woman's photo just for likes and laughs but she doesn't realize that if that poor woman ever saw that her photo was posted for laughs, she will feel insecure and ****ty. She then blocked me on Instagram so I guess she couldn't handle people calling her out for her evil ****. I'm glad you did that and stood up for that innocent woman. Whispering 18,865
I listened to every bit of Gaga's part. That was truly amazing! She is so right about the fact that problems become bigger in the dark. I'm so proud of Gaga for being an example, both now and in the past couple of years. She has been brave to come forward with her struggles with depression and with everything else that has surrounded and added to her illness. That honesty is commendable and has encouraged others along the way!

Supersonic 49,376
That resonated with me very well and it reminded me to just sometimes go out of my way and stop feeling sorry for myself so much and ask my friends if they actually feel fine. Very inspiring talk.
mmm 879
oh no gaga standing up against bullying! how dare she creat an entire organization to donate to research to makes the world a better place! wow what a b---hI did not say anything against what you said.. your just too stupid to even make the argument and instead will accuse me of things and put words in my mouth and make fun of me.. I dont think I need to explain what I said cause its pretty clear.lol i don't think you're totally getting what she's trying to say. Yes, we have free speech but we - as humans - in an age of permanency i.e. social media, internet - we have a moral obligation to not be discriminatory, not be hateful, racist, ignorant etc for the sake of a relatively harmonious, cohesive society - especially online and especially in regards to the health of those who suffer the most from defences such as "free speech"That still means she wants to censor free speech.. I know why she wants to do it but its still wrong. You can block people and make your page privet and not post your personal life online if your effected by this. If we allow censorship, then everything will be s-xist, everything will be racist, and people who speak the truth that dont fit the current agenda will be censored. NewUsername 11,420
I love her so much I wish I could talk to her. I know every fan wants that but idk.. I meet so many fans in person who seem so shallow and self absorbed, it's like they completely ignore what Gaga's all about. But the few I meet that are genuine and loving are some of the best people I've ever met. I guess that dichotomy is just part of the territory when you're so mainstream. I just wish I had some type of connection to her. Emma is so lucky. exactly. And who gets all the attention? Them, because of being so out there (in a negative way). This is not Gaga's fault, but an universal phenomena. :/

If we allow censorship, then everything will be s-xist, everything will be racist, and people who speak the truth that dont fit the current agenda will be censored. She's not arguing the censorship of speech - she would be advocating for extensive law reform if that were the case. She herself benefits from free speech. We all do. And this all extends far beyond the online world - she's not saying we can't say things of a s-xist, racist, derogatory nature - she's not threatening to arrest you or incarcerate you, it's just that if you do - online or in the real world - you are just a ignorant **** and do not have the right to use free speech as a defence of your words. Because we do not have the right to say such things - human rights protects our freedom to live and exercise our own autonomy without being subject to the negative connotations associated with "free speech" There is a line between advocating the mere decline of misuse of our rights as humans and advocating the removal of a particular right. She has not crossed that line.
Bebe 17,094
Gaga reminded me a lot of Oprah here actually It was pretty great though I thought, it was nice seeing her so honest and passionate. I hope that she continues to do speeches like this around the place. I'm still a little shaky on what TBTWF does practically though, it would be great if they did workshops and such in schools and colleges.I'm excited to see how the foundation evolves in the future though, I think it's message is strong and I feel like it's still in its baby stage in a lot of ways.I think people are focusing a little bit too much on the 'freedom of speech' thing. I don't think Gaga ever meant it to be taken as we should implement censorship, but people saying horrible and nasty things should be held accountable for the words they spew. You can be free to say what you want, but a moral person should choose to spread positivity and avoid spreading negativity.
