TimisaMonster 31,073
My problem is that it seems so artificial - like, are there any other people in the hotel? Or is it empty? It seems to exist in a completely separeted universe and doesn't feel like it's in a big city at all. What's interesting is that when the detective got the divorce papers...I saw random extras in the background sooooo I GUESS other visitors stay there? I agree however, when they show the lobby its a ghost town...no pun intended Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!
Katsuki Bakugo 9,788
AHS is not horror specific... There is more horror than gore. The horror this season is the story telling... Its horrific.. But I love it If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won't Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses.

I agree however, when they show the lobby its a ghost town...no pun intended I noticed them in the scene too... so unless the writers are gonna make it hell/purgatory in the end (LOST teas tbh), it is quite stupid Too many people here with moral superiority complex. Mister Gaga 22,924
I disagree (although it started quite messy), the season is finding it's route on every chapter. I've seen all the seasons, and since Asylum i haven't felt the suspense that reigns in the Hotel.Coven was a MESS imo, worst season by far, and Freak Show, despite i liked it, was wasted. XoXoJoanneGaga 629
This is just how Ryan Murphy shows are, you can never expect top of the line television or storytelling from him. There's always a few great episodes and a few terrible ones each season, and even the great episodes generally have no more than a couple of great sequences, like last week's episode. Last night had nothing great except the Angela Bassett sequence, outside of that the dialogue was poor and the acting was cringeworthy. There will be better episodes down the line but don't expect coherent or satisfying plotting or character arcs.
brownie 5
The "but there's only been 3 episodes" excuse doesn't work either--two were extended episodes, meaning we've already seen more than 3 FULL HOURS of content with only the barest hints of a real plot. The story is messy, but we've already had more time than most movies have had! If a movie can introduce a bunch of characters quickly and tell a full story in 2 hours, why hasn't Hotel been able to do even half of that in 3? Heck, Liz Taylor still has no real purpose other than serving drinks!
Benji 20,113
My main concern is that there's no real coherent story--it's just a jumbled mess of plotlines with new tangents being added every episode. Scenes may work by themselves, but each episode is just a collection of scenes...not a full story. All the stories are intertwined and they're going to end up coming to a head together. I wouldn't say it's any less "jumbled" than many other shows

djBuffoon 12,123
It's definitely focused in the right area. Virtually every character besides John and Alex is villainous in one way or the other. There seem to be theories that Alex, or even John himself, could be the 10CK. But for now, it's important that all of the crazy/supernatural shenanigans of The Countess, March, Sally, etc., are grounded in a plot that feels even somewhat relatable. And everyone, parent or not, can relate to people who have lost a child. So the focus is in the right place, but Ryan and Brad just need to put their foot on the pedal and keep the plot(s) moving.
