Spock 20,290
To play Frank-N-Furter Why did she turn it down, she's crazy It went to Laverne Cox The character was made famous by Tim Curry in the 1975 cult classic, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year and continues to be screened at midnight in theaters across the country. The two-hour Fox special, due in fall 2016, will be directed, exec produced and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) and filmed in advance. Ortega, Gail Berman and Lou Adler, who produced the original film, are attached as exec producers. The new Rocky will be produced by Fox 21 Television studios and Berman's The Jackal Group. Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga previously were offered the part. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/laverne-cox-star-foxs-rocky-833769 The slay would have been incredible EDIT: the movie is expected to air next fall, so maybe she may have turned it down because of LG5? That's the only valid reason why I accept her turning it down tbh who will love me when the night is over
Alien Tulip 12,428
Remakes are horrible so I'm glad she turned it down. I'm sure she was flattered to get the role but I remember her saying Rocky Horror is one of her favorite movies and I'm sure she loves the original so much she would never star in a remake
djBuffoon 12,123
I'm glad she turned it down. I love Rocky Horror but there's no reason it needs to be remade.

CatelynnMarie 4,406
I'm not sure how I feel about this remake. RHPS is dear to me, so it's like, sacred. I'm kind of glad she didn't take the role, but on the other hand, she would have slayed

I'm also sure she had too much plans already set like filming AHS.
JazzGa 14,621
You can't remake a cult classic. I love rocky but I know this is going to be cringe city and will not be received well critically or publically. I'd like to see Gaga in a Broadway reboot but not a remake of the movie. Didymus 34,380
But she is in talks with Barbra for the Gypsy remake, so I doubt the fact that it was a remake particularly bothered herRocky Horror is different, however. It's already a massively controversial subject and every remake of either the film or the musical has almost universally been met with the vilest criticism. If Gaga participated in a flop production, her reputation is basically ruined forever.

Gaga would most definitely shine in a Broadway reboot compared to a network television remake which will be critically lambasted by everyone.
Knife 6,888
What I don't get is why they'd be after a woman to play the role of a bis-xual-male transvestite.

If Gaga participated in a flop production, her reputation is basically ruined forever. oh I'm well aware of Rocky Horror's cultural impact, I just meant that the fact that it's a remake may not have bothered her, as opposed to carrying the role on her shoulders. Since Frank N Furter is kind of the centerpiece character, if the production is floppy it would blow up in her face, regardless if her character was bad or not. But I choose to believe it's because it clashed with LG5 who will love me when the night is over
Bolkins 4,125
Ughhhhhh why with the remakes all the time if it ain't broke don't fix it I'm glad she turned it down Not the bore worms!
Andy McQueen 4,484
Remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels - it bores me to death. What happend to Hollywood and the industry? No creativity left. It will never be as sucessful as the original classics, so why doing it? Ugh ... Anyway, I think it's interesting that a trans-xual woman like Laverne Cox wants to play the role of a bis-xual, male transvestite - curious to see her in the role.
