Evan Peters 10,796
so you don't think public college should be free tuition and that healthcare should be a right for everyone? why are people so hung up on Bernie saying free? he's explained what he wants to do multiple times yet people continue to ignore it and say he'll ruin the economy emma roberts is an abuser
s1d1c1u1 86
so you don't think public college should be free tuition and that healthcare should be a right for everyone? It won't be free...college has to be funded somehow and that means higher taxes for people who are already over taxed. Pablo 8,696
so you don't think public college should be free tuition and that healthcare should be a right for everyone?I don't think the government should be responsible to have all these handouts, the US government is pretty crappy anyway. I think healthcare needs to change, but the government is only taking more and more of our money. Where do you think they are going to get all the money to fund this from? The taxpayers. Edit: I don't really believe that anything should be a "right," I know that is probably controversial but that's how I feel. We shouldn't have to depend on the government to live, it's a dangerous place to go. Don't visit my profile
Whispering 18,865
That's a big plus for Hillary. Joe would have split the vote and financial support that would have been going to Hillary.
Redstreak 6,653
I love how people say the US can't financially do what almost every other industrialized nation IS currently doing Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

No. Bernie has already explained how it will be funded. Placing a robin hood tax on Wall Street is how he will do it. He doesn't want to increase taxes on the middle class. Just the small 1% of billionaires who DON'T pay their fare share as it is when they are more than capable of doing so.

And to address your other statement, I think it's immoral to deny healthcare to anyone in need of it. We are the only civilized major nation in the world that doesn't provide this for our citizens. It's not right. And as far as you not thinking anything should be a "right"...ok well then I guess you should give up your right to privacy, right to vote, right to assemble, freedom of speech, freedom of religion,...etc. etc. all of that should be done away with according to you. Whispering 18,865
I love how people say the US can't financially do what almost every other industrialized nation IS currently doingWe could afford it, but taxes would have to go up considerably. You might get a free community college type education (tuition only), but you will end up paying for it over the next fifty years of your life. You are going to pay for it somehow. Also, free education wouldn't resemble what you are getting now at Alabama. Your free university wouldn't look anything like Alabama or provide the services, flexibility and activities you have at a public institution like U of A. Think of a local community college...that's what free education would be like. Colleges like the SEC public schools would be private institutions. My state just started a free tuition plan this year, but it is at local community colleges only. I know of other states that offer this to their residents, but the majority of students still choose to go off to the flashier state schools.

Do other nations that have "free" tuition not provide quality education for their students though? I haven't looked into how drastically education would change if it was free but I certainly hope the quality doesn't go down.

That's what you would get for free. You wouldn't get the colleges like what you see at Indiana University or Auburn for free. Both can be a quality education, they are just very different. If you want to invision what free education would be like, go check out a community college. They still have quality teachers, classrooms, labs, libraries, etc.
