Creyk 17,817
I have no idea who she is and what kind of music she makes..OH well.....the point is, someone asked "Is she on d--gs?" And then you said: yes, love.Tove Lo has a song called "Not on d--gs" where the chorus is: I'm not on d--gs, I'm not on d--gs,I'm just in loveANd so I thought you were referencing her but then apparently not. wahkeenasitka 1,995
Thank you for your comment, which was by the way one of very few valuable contributions here, but I feel like you're missing my point. I understand that artists change over time, it's obvious and I can't wait to see that change in Gaga (with her new album) but those past 2 years? She's been babbling about her boyfriend and her personal life. A cover album happened in the meantime but it was only a cover album and you can't really judge her artistic output by that. It's what she chooss to tal about and how she does it tha bothers me. First thing tht worried me wwasthe perfume campaign but I thought it was only a whim, but then she went on to do another one, then versace campaign, then this whole "Im an actress now" thing... Where is the art? I could count on one hand how many times she actually talked about THE MUSIC during the ARTPOP era. She's a celebrity now, the "Gaga" factor is gone now and it's hard to accept for me because I was a huge fan of her eccentricity. So huge that I'm still here, waiting in hope that she won't disapoint with the next one. I think this is a valid critique and inquiry, and honestly - I get it. One thing to consider: I think that something major shifts in an artist when you've gone through this transformation: Phase 1 > You're an underground artist. You're trying to get noticed. You're basically a nobody, who has to push and struggle to breakthrough. You're young, wild, passionate and purely following the whims of your fervent creative fires... Phase 2 > You're an established, famous artist. You've got everything you want... You're a celebrity millionaire with a castle by the ocean, a s-xy boyfriend, years of sold out concerts and tours all over the world, millions of views on youtube videos, etc... It really changes the creative energy of a person when you're no longer having to push and follow this wild, relentless passionate muse.... I think there is a REAL STRUGGLE to maintain that passionate creativity that you were fueled by when you were a young outsider, when now you're surrounded by wealth, opulence, famous people, parties and everything you could ever want. I actually think that becoming a celebrity - typically - kills creative energy. *HOWEVER* - Gaga IS different than 99.9% of most celebrities. Something about her will never stop being restless, wild, curious, relentless, passionate and feverishly transformational.... So.......... I think the best that her fans can do is simply show up for the endless transformation....
