It was believed to be a tight race between the 3 major parties but the NDP Socialists performed far worse than expected while the Liberals unexpectedly gained a Majority Government...

In Canada a majority Government guarantees a term for 5 years without early elections which can occur as often as every 2 years in a minority Government

Justin Trudeau Leader of the Liberals has promised to invest more in infrastructure even though he admits it means it will end Canadas surpluses and bring Canada back to deficits. He also has promissed to work more closely with Provincial Government and municipalities.

The Liberals platform actually isnt crazy different from the Conservatives only a few minor differences:

Harper prefers income splitting for families while trudeau prefers income tax cut of 1.5% for income bracket between $45,000 to $90,000 (both will benefit only some people)

Harper proposes no tax hikes but Justin Trudeau wants to raise taxes with a new income bracket over $200,000

The biggest difference, Harper wants to maintain our budget surpluses to pay down debt for long term financial security while Justin Trudeau Prefer to overspend back into deficit but says he will spend it on investments such as infrastructure that are suppostu pay off later

Most things including Corporate taxes are to be kept the same by both parties

Still hoping for a minority. Don't want Turdeau to have too much power.

me either :noparty:

but im just glad this time around the Liberals ideas are not that different from the Conservatives

The only thing that bigs me more is them wanting to overspend again... but even that, they arent proposing large deficits...  $10 Billion deficits like he proposes in a $2 Trillion economy while the economy grows at 2% annually would still see our current debt to GDP ratio fall from 31% towards the 25% mark

Their tax policies are pretty simmilar with only some minor details off

I prefered Harper again but i can live with the Liberals... Its the NDP and Tom Mulcair i was really worried about but it seems like this term they are gonna get very few seats
