Katsuki Bakugo 9,788
Whatever the platinum cert is here in NZ (can't be that high) I'll buy that many. I'll travel around the country and buy one from each cd store in each town while blasting LG5 through my stereo. Any NZ monsters want to join on a road trip?buy 10 copies that should cover it If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won't Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses. giskardsb 12,565
the thing is not enough fans buy that many copies to make much of a dent in charts, even if a few people are buying 50 of them. Just buy what you want to buy and let the charts do what the charts are going to do.
PrinceGaga 7,585
Yep it's true"Purchases made by one individual in bulk for redistribution or gifts are also ineligible venue sales and therefore will not be processed."Source - second to last bullet point on second pageAlso:Buying a track two times would count as two sales. There could be a number of reasons you would want to buy the same song twice (maybe you want to have it on 10 different computers). However, if you were to buy a track, let's say, oh, 800 times, that would be considered an anomaly and would not count. So it's not possible to rig the charts by buying the same track an exorbitant amount of times. The same has always been true of physical records as well. I know someone who purchased several hundred copies of the same CD single a few years ago to give out as gifts, and was surprised to find out that sale was not counted for the charts. I explained to her later that her sale must have been considered an anomaly, and possible chart-rigging, although that wasn't her intent. Perhaps if she had purchased 10 singles each at 80 different stores she would have made an impact on the charts, but I don't think she had the time or energy.source
LaLuna 12,732
The most surprising thing about all this to me is the fact that Demi actually has crazy, hardcore stans. I know, right? I'm sorry but I would never buy 50 copies of one album, even for Gaga. Also, that gif
RegiRey 443
I bought ARTPOP on itunes, google(gifted to a friend), amazon(gifted to a friend), target, walmart, and bestbuy. It felt great. I only did it because I was financially able to, and I wanted to support this b---h.
CaliLilMonster 476
In addition to not buying in bulk/one transaction I heard you should pay with cash. That way they can't track that the same person is buying the same album a bunch of times.

Florian 19,956
So the "free shipping" girl lied to us, she just wanted Gaga to not sell a lot of albums !!!! If we have to only buy one how can we have the free shipping If we have the free shipping, Gaga only gets one
Kayla 7,595
the thing is not enough fans buy that many copies to make much of a dent in charts, even if a few people are buying 50 of them. Just buy what you want to buy and let the charts do what the charts are going to do. Exactly. Unless you get thousands of fans to do this it's actually pointless. To even give an album an extra 100k you'd need 100 fans to buy 1,000 albums each or 1,000 fans to buy 100 albums each. And based on ARTPOP's sales clearly that ain't happening. Not to mention, buying a ton of albums just to increase sales lacks integrity and creates a dishonest platform of success. Gaga's merit and talent alone can give her good numbers without the pseudo-sales.
NewYorkCity 10,536
yeah but when you think of it like: imagine if everyone who bought ARTPOP (2M copies) had bought 10 copies... that would make 20 million copies for ARTPOP Think about it. I have never done that tho lol, I mean, I buy different copies because of the format (vinyl, cd) or the edition (foil edition, special edition, regular edition..), but going to a store and spending hundreds on the same CD is stupid

Miracle 14,068
If is true (I doubt it), ARTPOP has probably sold about 2,5 million copies as many fans did massive-buy sprees (reports put it at 2.2 million or so)
Ronk 14,762
I'm already planning my schedule for release day Yeah, I think the release will be better planned this time. On release day of ARTPOP I started at Walmart. I expected a huge special display. But the sales people there never heard of ARTPOP, and there were no copies on display. They went back and found a few copies in the storage room. Then I went to FYE a half hour before they opened, expecting to photograph long lines waiting to get in to grab copies of ARTPOP. There was nobody there, and for the first half-hour I was the only customer in the store. They had a few copies in the new releases section. The lack of promo in my area was astounding. I will plan a route from store to store on LG5 release day expecting a much better experience. I live outside the space time continuum.
