Finally someone has looked past the looks and #1's and has seen she doesn't really offer anything to music besides meaningless catchy tunes...shes an entertainer...not an artist imo

After all, outspoken superstars like Beyoncé

But when you pan from these reinvented, super-empowered lady superheroes to Katy Perry, the picture becomes far less threatening and explosive. Because Katy Perry never changes. Her brand is the very essence of reassuring, non-threatening stagnancy.....Where Beyoncé pushes us to accept feminism and strong, assertive women (with a faintly wicked twist

---------------------------------------------------------------

Beyonce hardly changes or challenges us either. Same R&B sound and themes in album after album. Her feminism is pretty basic. .. mostly she's s-xy and classy and doesn't say a lot of controversial stuff.

And how are Pop Taylor's songs any better than Katy's? And least Katy did Luke/Martin pop first and doesn't appropriate feminism to promote her brand.

I recall I Kissed a Girl being controversial, Firework being a popular empowerment song, and Wide Awake having thoughtful lyrics.

So true.  She's a total bore and acts like she's popular.

:rip:

this is such a lame post.

Lol I don't like Katy at all but this is pretty mean. A lot of people evidently like her and that's totally fine.

Whispering

Katy Perry represents the status quo. Marilyn Monroe, without the second-guessing and the darkness. Sandra Dee, without the alcoholism. Katy Perry reminds us that all of the progress we've made could still disappear into thin air at any moment. Her steady, uncomplicated candy-coated persona, her lady sound that never steps on any toes, offer a safe place to hide out until the storm passes and everything goes back to the way it was before.

Damn.....   :teehee:

that was brutally harsh, not a fan of hers but damn

I totally agree with you. At least Katy seems light-hearted and fun. Taylor is probably the worst example he could've picked to argue that Katy is pointless, especially considering that Taylor stands for absolutely nothing. She's vanilla, bland and painfully safe.

sadly im out of likes but damn, where's the lies

Did Gaga write this? :teehee:

I see no lies. Can't wait for certain Kety cat to come and try to defend her.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

I still don't know why Onika is called a feminist. :crossed:

"Katy Perry pushes such avant-garde, high concepts as teenagers, horny; California girls, awesome; aliens, weird; and kissing girls, actually kinda nice."

Did they lie? I don't spot any lies.
