I actually do think she is immortal. I mean, she looks the same age during the 1994 scene and Ryan stated in some interview that she has been around for a very long time.

Ryan said that they can die just like any other human so she is not immortal, she just doesn't age.

14 costume changes in episode 2. :air:

I wonder if they're going to gradually increase the number of changes, until the finale is just an hour long episode of the Countess trying on different outfits as the murdered supporting cast lie around her.

I actually wouldn't mind watching that. lmao

What Ryan Murphy means is that she isn't a vampire in the supernatural sense of the term - she has no fangs, she doesn't fear sunlight, she doesn't need to get a stake through her heart to be killed and so on.... Why is it so hard for you guys to get the concept.

Actually she does fear sunlight. When the realtor showed up this was made pretty clear. She mentioned how room 64 was in the wing that doesn't get much light. Donovan jumped when they opened the curtains. The realtor also mentioned the neon lights. Elizabeth and Donovan went out, but in the dark. And she'll shade herself from the sun if she does go out in daylight.

Also why wouldnt a stake through her heart kill her? im pretty sure it will, esp if she's a hemophiliac because the slightest wound could lead her to bleed to death.

And maybe she shaved down her fangs to blend into society better?

That was a challenge because in the first episode she had nine changes; in the second episode she had 14 changes.

When you're sleeping and someone suddenly pulls the curtain, do you find this pleasant?

As for the stake, well, of course anybody would die from a stake through the heart... :awkney: What I mean is that it's not the ONLY way to kill her.

The thing is it's not even subject to discussion because I am merely reflecting what Ryan Murphy has already said about the character: he made it very clear that he wasn't interested in portraying a typical vampire and wanted to add a believable twist to the myth, hence the whole "virus" storyline.

No I would not find that pleasant, but to me that paired with all the comments made by the realtor made it pretty clear.

And how do you know that's not the only way to kill her?

Yes, she's not a typical vampire, but from everything I see, which isn't very subtle, she is a vampire.

pretty sure anyone would die if they got stabbed in the heart :rip: I dont know why you all are so set on calling her a vampire when Ryan Murphy, the creator of her character, has specifically said multiple times that she isn't a vampire. She is a human being. she is a mortal. In the EW interview, Murphy said that she could die if she got hit by a car. Last I recall, a vampire isn't a mortal. They're what would be described as a creature.

And she doesn't have fangs because she isn't a vampire :saladga:

There's no doubt that Murphy took inspo from traditional tropes for vampires but i do not understand the need to keep saying she's a vampire when it was said she isn't and never was a vampire. The virus is there to explain why she's 100 years old and looks youthful

Ryan Murphy saying that The Countess isn't a vampire is like anyone saying Beyoncé is a fashion icon.

Fixed my dear.

Call her vampire if you want, but Ryan Murphy's approach with the character is specifically not to make her a fantastical creature, but rather a simple human being afflicted with a virus. To paraphrase Mr. Murphy, if she gets ran over by a car, she'll die.

Since vampires arent real, I'm open to many interpretations of them. I guess Ryan is making new rules and till I know what else to refer to her as, it'll be a vampire because so many things point to this, including what Gaga and Lou said. Who says vampires cant evolve with time? Maybe this one won't be hurt by the sight of a cross and can get killed by a car. Times have changed so they might adapt. It doesnt really matter to me anyway cause I see Elizabeth as a person foremost and what interests me most is not what she is but what drives her, which I feel is a love lost.
