JbGaga 2,261
I feel like she's back peddling and contradicting herself here with past interviews.... Quite frankly I don't understand what shes saying anymore. "ARTPOP was fun, its sad, its a mix of fun wrapped in a bow of sad"... I just want her to make music. Do I think she needs to reflect on how she made music before and incorporate it into something different yes. Do I think she needs to stop putting lyrics onto finished edm songs (which was most of ARTPOP) and have songs tailor made for her lyrics like the old days YES. But I really don't care I just want music and will take anything at this point

Noah X 5,250
It's not like her lyrics are gonna get shallower. She always has amazing lyrics. Just the beat will be boppier like Bad Romance, Gypsy, RedOne. Who doesn't want that ;)
Shadow 6,625
This what happens when Little Managers try to run her careerNo one is really running her career except for her. Entitlement, though vain, doesn't have actual power over her unless she allows it. Do your own research.

Slayer 9,227
I didn't think ARTPOP was a particularly heavy album... I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!
Shadow 6,625
Since you're a mod, all I'll say is that I respectfully disagree. You respectfully disagree because we're the ones buying her music? Sure, each one of us has that power. However, have you ever wondered that even while fans disagree with some of her decisions, we still stick around since we like the artist and know she has much more to potentially offer since we love her past work? Hasn't Gaga been in control of her creative material all this time? Don't use my status here as a mod to patronize me. I'm not going to warn you for a disagreement unless you broke the rules by being disrespectful which you weren't. Give me more credit than that... Do your own research. SISTERV 3,887
I'm glad she recognizes this because it is what made her famous. Gaga is extremely talented at dance pop that can touch into strange on occasion without becoming the focus. People want an album like Poker Face and Bad Romance because they want to her succeed. It's not because they want typical pop music. To a lot of people, Poker Face and Bad Romance are good examples of art and pop successfully coming together. I think Gaga should continue to curate her abilities in writing a ballad, but in the meantime it's ok to release music that you know is entertaining. It's actually odd to me that people diss her Fame-esque pop songs calling them typical when they are groundbreaking hits that changed the industry. It sounds like people creating some absurd expectation from her when it takes time to develop new aesthetics. She could be having number ones with great dance songs in 2016 but people are okay with her flopping into an abyss just so they can get one "deep" song from her. Poker Face, Just Dance, Bad Romance ARE deep in their contrast to most junk on the radio but still allow the mainstream listener to get involved. Did everyone forget that that is what made Lady Gaga so impactful to begin with?
charliekelso 115
sometimes I'm just like WTF about the things she says. Bad Romance is amazing and has great lyrics, also is very different in the way it treats love. It's not a fun lyric, or happy. Despite me liking some ARTPOP songs, they were not as great as the best songs on previous albums. Marry The Night is better than any song on ARTPOP, despite me loving Mary Jane Holland more sometimes. Dope is really annoying, she's done better ballads. mic 1,415
I'm happy for her acknowledging what she is good at. She is the finest dance pop artist to everyone in the world. This is her trademark. The only people who care about her deeply artistic journeys are some moaning fans and Tony Bennett
DrKindnessKunt1999 6,062
Hopefully, she's still adds Rock, Disco, and Jazz influences to LG5. Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy with a pop album, but I just want her to have fun with the album, and ignore any second guessing that she has about doing something that she really wants to do. Also, I hope she still ends up making serious songs, and ballads, too, if she wants to. I just want her art to be free, and for her to do whatever she wants with it. display name 4,360
I didn't think ARTPOP was a particularly heavy album... I think she's just saying that ARTPOP was mostly written with her own experiences and feelings in mind. In that way, it was her most emotional release. With her previous albums, she was able to fantasize and write about things she hadn't dealt with. In the case of Born This Way, she mostly wrote about her fans' stories. Moreso than her other albums, ARTPOP was about her.
