Gaga is clearly replacing Lange this season, but the network obviously doesn't want the public to think she should be as good as Lange, so the FX PR machine has been in full gear trying to delineate the two.This narrative is clearly not true. Jessica Lange has had one foot out the door since season 3. She said this back in 2013:“It ends up being a lot of time during the year being committed to something… I haven’t done that for a long time. It’s like doing a stage play between the rehearsal and the run. This is a 6-month commitment every year. That will be four years in a row. I want to have more time to myself I guess. Once it’s over and I have a full year ahead of me with nothing to do, who knows? It might not have been the best decision. Jessica quit right after season 4 so Ryan knew she wasn't going to be on the next season. American Horror Story hasn't always been about Jessica Lange and real fans should know that. She didn't have the lead character until season 3 and 4 and that's quite arguable considering Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are the only actors who have been in all the episodes. Wes Bentley is the seemingly targeted square-jawed detective who is being drawn to the Cortez. slowly but surely, as an event in his past we learn is directly tied to the Hotel. Sarah Paulson is electric as Sally, and her moments are ones to watch for.Matt Bomer plays Gaga’s lover, and he too is anchored to the hotel by familial blood and by his own backstory and circumstance, which you will find out in the premiere.One of the best things to savor is the artful placement of music within the atmospheric acts. Bauhaus, The Eagles, and the classic She Wants Revenge ditty, “Tear You Apart,” which is the backdrop to a breathtaking spider and prey scene.The venue is perfect, the guest list sublime and the tunes are rocking and ready to make your smallest apprehensions about staying at any hotel blow up with the fright of a million little monsters. Most reviewers have said that Gaga isn't even in the episode that much, but this guy has based the majority of his piece on her.
