You started with the OT discussion in your first post. That's not a ****ing lie.

If you really want to discuss Lana and stay on topic, how are her single(s) doing on the formats I mentioned? How are they doing internationally?

How is that not off-topic? :air: This is about her album sales drop. I talked about how the drop didn't matter when you put it next to the album drop of an international icon like Gaga who couldn't even stop an 80%+ drop with all the tons of promo before the album release.

That's not off-topic, you're ****ing lying.

So thanks for the opportunity to repeat my message but next time keep your delusional accusations to yourself.

+ just because someone doesnt make commercial doesnt justify huge drop. I mean she always was alternative and she still suceeded to not have such a drop like she did now

I mean it's convenient. Last week there was this huge discussion about Lana's impact and how she's equally or even more influential than Gaga and made it in the Pop world even though she's indie and doesn't bother to promo and how remarkable her success is. And now that the second week sales are in and they're bad, everybody's getting defensive and says we should put the numbers into perspective, she's just an Indie artist.

she needs to promote more tbh, im sure she would sell more if more people knew the album existed.

I feel like this decline has more to do with her music being slower and less upbeat. Her music has become quieter and a bit less palatable with each release IMO.

Nah Born to Die is very, very accessible. It's a larger-than-life album with instantly iconic visuals and very immediate vocals and melodies.

Her new music is similar but essentially all of the specific elements that made Born to Die so huge have been stripped away. Her visuals are less grand and a bit faceless now, her lyrics are more obtuse and far less relatable, she doesn't really sing in the high lolita voice anymore.

I like Honeymoon a lot but the lack of those elements makes her less exciting now, at least to the average listener. People don't respond to a song like High by the Beach the way they would to Blue Jeans or National Anthem

Pretty sure last week, everyone was saying it's great how Lana gets compared to the pop girls considering she's only released more indie / indie rock sounds.... and now we're all saying the same thing in a thread where everyone expects her to do as well as a pop girl? :trollga:

Nice of you to ignore all the people who already took the (lack of) commercial success into account in that huge discussion. Because they were there.

Radio airplay impacts album sales...especially with these types of formats. Triple A has long been known as an album oriented format. In my very first post in this thread I mentioned radio airplay. Do you have an inability to reply to on topic discussion...discussion that actually revolves around the subject matter and the actual person that the thread is about?

Nope.

Well sorry I grew tired of reading the status updates after 25 messages and couldn't bear to read the other 45 :trollga:

It's still a far better album than any of the overly commercial stars are putting out so I don't see the problem, or the purpose to the glee that some people are taking...

It was the follow up to Born to Die so it naturally had a lot more hype. She's in a weird place where she still has a lot of fans and attention left from that era, but she's not delivering the kind of work to sustain that attention. So the numbers will probably keep dropping cause she seems very happy with what she's doing at the moment.

I don't care about your first post, you replied to me to accuse me of being off-topic, so I replied to that, I'm not gonna play your game when you're calling me out for something I'm not doing just so you can look better.

I think it's absolutely fine if you think that discussing the value of the album drop that is in this OP is off-topic (which is idiotic as anyone but you on this thread can see, sorry to say), but I am talking about the album drop (the subject matter) and I am talking about Lana (the actual person that the thread is about) so honestly.. why are you trying so hard to make yourself look like an idiot?

You go ahead and have your radio airplay impact talk, my goal here is to negate the idea that this sales drop is to be received with mockery or shade. Two completely different topics, I suggest we separate them here, as they were before you felt the need to call me out on being off-topic with a perfectly off-topic reply. Won't reply to you anymore after this.

Alternative Queen of sharing a record with the queen of pop. :legend:

All of the members here who treat Lana like she's a Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry, etc. are too much. :lmao:

105,000 fans bought Honeymoon the first week of release. Lana doesn't have the GP's interest anymore and unlike our beloved Gaga her satisfaction as an artist has nothing to do with commercial success and mainstream acceptance. Gaga lives for the applause and Lana lives for her bad baby's dark blue shades of cool. They aren't comparable at all so stop making a fool out of yourselves. :lmao:

Poor Lana fans, they were so delusional they truthfully thought she could sell 250k with her lead single and even dragged the good sis Applause. Now Honeymoon beats BTW and ARTPOP's second week drops

but they don't care about sales:proud:
