The album spawns two top 10 hits “Higher” (#7) and “With Arms Wide Open” (#1). 1991-Miles Davis, the famous jazz trumpeter, dies of pneumonia at the age of 65. 1987-The Smiths release their last album ‘Strangeways, Here We Come’ 1983-Linda Ronstadt, who had been considered the lead female rock vocalist since the mid-70’s, releases a jazz album 'What's New'. Her team was very reluctant to make the album, but Linda was determined to. The album ended up selling over 3 million copies and many have noted this album for having had a huge affect on pop culture. Linda’s next two albums were jazz, as well, followed by a Mariachi album. Why hasn't this day been made into an international holiday for all creatures of Earth? Bless our divine mother goddess DUFF. May she spit the seeds of love and power into our gaping mounts.
