Should Gaga Care About Single Success Anymore?

Not really... if she would care about that , it would be reflected in the musc she'll produce / write and it will be a mess and flop. Just look at MDNA and Rebel Heart by Madonna being trend-chasers and their singles flopping pretty hard and also being pretty messy

She shouldn't put all her ideas into a few singles and then just fill the album around them. She has never done that, but sometimes you can hear it from ''one hit wonders''. She should aim to record a great album, so she can release almost any song from it. All the songs should represent the sound and the theme, with some special elements  The songs can be a part of a bigger ''body of work'' and still be released as singles.

Of course, she should.  And if any artist says they don't, they are lying, unless they are much older and have given up on single success.

At the same time, Beyoncé kind of proves this not always necessary. She is an icon and her music is critically acclaimed, but doesn't get a lot of hit singles.

Beyawnce is the most overrated artist in the US because americans think she is jesus christ vol2 so this example fails a bit.

I think the example still holds true. Despite her lack of radio play and hit singles, she can still sell tons of music, keep people not only talking about her but praising her, get critical acclaim and maintain her spot in the gp's eye. Just because some people find artists overrated, doesn't mean they are. I think Taylor is overrated, but it doesn't change the fact that she is super successful right now.

I don't think Gaga is in the same boat as Beyoncé though, and she needs to get some hits on the radio for people to really recognize her again

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Not when Ms. Swift is walking around here selling 5 million albums and winning Grammies left and right, but can barely hold a note. Don't get mad just because Bey is marketing gold. Its not like she doesn't have the talent to back it up. Have you seen her last two festival performances? I'd advise you do and I gurantee your opinion will change.

It's science, bitch

That's xctly what i'm saying.

Gaga is not an overrated beyonce so the example of her being relevant without hit singles fails in comparison with Gaga's current status.

Taylor has multiple smash hits and her albums sell like hot bread so she can't be considered overrated.

People like her music and they buy the **** outta it either we like it or not.

She doesn't get grammys because she is considered the second coming of jesus or winning vmas for a homemade video like 7/11.

No one is claiming tthat she's the second coming of Jesus.

The only reason why 7/11 was nominated is because Beyoncè is marketing gold. MTV was just thirsty to get her to show up to their trashy and tacky award show, which she didn't. Oops. Mainly because she knows how tacky it is, and realized their transparency. And ulitmately, she doesn't need to act an ass at the VMAs like so many other people have done now. She also knew that it was gonna be all about Taylor, which it was.

She has built a brand and empire which Americans LOVE. Americans love power, hardwork, and success. That's why she's so respected.  She's a marketing powerhouse. Just look at her last album. She solidified her status as a legend and icon without having to be all over the radio or charts.

And at the end of the day, she's one of the most talented artists and performers on the planet. In her own words for her song 'Ego,' I talk like this 'cause I can back it up.'  Can Taylor? I think not. She has some good songs, but there are 10000 more talented artists who deserves her success. Now that's overrated.
