-Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett release their jazz album “Cheek to Cheek”

-Jennifer Hudson releases her third album “JHUD”.This album is Hudson’s least successful album, not earning any chartable songs. The album has yet to sell 100,000 copies.

2008 (7 years ago)
-The ***cat Dolls release their second and final album, “Doll Domination”. The album spawned three top 20 hits; “When I Grow Up” (#9), “I Hate This Part” (#11), and “Jai Ho!” (#15).

-Demi Lovato releases her debut studio album “Don’t Forget”. Three singles from that album made it onto the Billboard Hot 100: “Get Back” (#43), “La La Land” (#52), and “Don’t Forget” (#41). The album has sold over 550,00 copies in the US.

-Kings of Leon release their amazingly successful album “Only by the Night, which has sold over 2 million copies in the US. The album is known for its #4 hit “Use Somebody” as well as the #56 hit “S*x on Fire”.Unfortunately, Kings of Leon’s mainstream success has faded since that time.

 

2003 (12 years ago)
-Nickelback release their fourth studio album “The Long Road”. The album features the #7 hit “Someday”. The album has sold 3.6 million copies in the U.S. (This is also before the whole world hated on Nickelback).

-Limp Bizkit release their fourth album “Results May Vary", after three years. The album peaks at #3 and fails to meet the success of its two predecessors. The album eventually sells 1.5 million copies in the US, while its previous album sold 8 million.

-Outkast release their 5th album “Speakerboxxx/TheLoveBelow”. The album earned two #1 songs, “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move”, as well as the #9 hit “Roses”. The album has sold 5.5 million copies.

-Boyz II Men release their third and final commercially successful album “Evolution”. The album spawns two top 10 hits, “4 Seasons of Loneliness” (#1) and “A Song for Mama” (#7). The album sells over 2 million copies. 

 

1986 (29 years ago)
-Tina Turner releases her sixth album “Break Every Rule” featuring the #2 song “Typical Male”.

-Boston release their third album “Third Stage” featuring the #1 hit “Amanda” and the #9 hit “We’re Ready”. The album sold over 4 million copies in the US.

 

1982 (33 years ago)
-Billy Joel releases his eighth album “The Nylon Curtain” featuring 2 top 20 hits, “Pressure” (#20) and “Allentown” (#17). The album has sold more than 2 million copies. This was Joel’s worst performing album from 1977 to 1993. 


1980 (35 years ago)
-Barbra Streisand releases her 22nd album “Guilty”, which was produced by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. The album is responsible for three top 10 hits, “Woman in Love” (#1), “Guilty” (#3) and “What Kind of Fool” (#10). The album has sold over 5 million copies in the US, making it Streisand’s best-selling studio album.
