Petition demanding Cher for the Super Bowl is making the rounds

Next year’s Super Bowl halftime show is in danger of turning into a giant “curated” mess, but Cher’s fans are determined to get an undisputed icon on stage for the game’s 50th anniversary.

A Change.org petition demanding Cher be the one to perform during halftime when the Super Bowl airs on February 7 has collected over 1,700 signatures.

“Her music spans through many generations therefore giving her the ability to connect with a wide variety of audience members of all creeds,” the petition reads. “There is no doubt that Cher is able to entertain and put on a show with her high flying aerialists and numerous costume changes… she is a sure homerun or should we say TOUCHDOWN for the 2016 Superbowl!”

It’s rumored that the NFL was looking to hire Bruno Mars to perform during halftime after he raked in the second-highest halftime ratings in Super Bowl history back in 2014. Insiders claim he would be tasked with “curating” a show that includes a number of celebrities.

Cher’s petition comes a week after fans threw support behind Britney Spears to become the 2016 halftime performer, pointing to a cryptic halftime commercial the Queen appeared in last year as proof that she’s already been offered the slot.

Unlike Britney, though, Cher has never performed on the Super Bowl halftime stage, though she did open the game with the National Anthem in 1999.
