I am sad about her leaving because she IS a brilliant actress and oh honey Gaga is NOWHERE her level in acting hence Jessica is not being replaced. Get real :) 

But are we even sure she is a lead? Seems odd to just cast an inexperienced pop singer for lead.

i'm sorry, did you say inexperienced? (1) she's an actress with musical theater training, (2) she had minor roles in some movies, (3) her whole life is big show that she puts on for you. yes, the third point is almost a direct quote from her. she might not be the most experienced, but she's definitely not without experience.

more importantly, why did you feel that the only way to praise jessica was to simultaneously bring gagz down? yes, in terms of the leading role, jessica is being replaced.

thats hardly any experience -_- AND her performance on The big screen so far were quite erm not good. But Im not putting her down! Im really hoping she will be good and interesting in The show! But yeah, there's aa vast difference between a amateur actress pop star and seasoned academy award winning actress. Thats The reality and is not to be taken as an insult. IMO, no network would hire a newbie with no actually auditions and prior proper acting "proof" for a lead role. 

Anyway, time will tell is Gaga a main char or mere cameo and IF shes brilliantly good or not. No point in arguing before we know. Now, let's ALL hope for The best! :D

many of us as well as critics think otherwise. she was praised for her acting in machete, actually.

yes, obviously, there is a difference. however, she is no way amateur. see my previous post about her acting background.

Easier to have someone to blame I guess. But in that case they should complain about the casting crew. I think the reason why people are complaining is that they enjoy doing so, complain.

I think AHS had gotten painted into a corner... no way was Jessica going to take less than a leading role at any time and she always wanted to play these certain types of strong but flawed women characters.  It had kind-of become the Jessica Lange show.   I think its good she's stepping away.  I don't see Gaga as a replacement for Jessica... just as another member of the cast.  Apparently not a minor one however, but probably not as dominant of a character as Jessica was.

And I don't even think Gaga has been "over-promoted", certainly not to the extent they could have.

It would be insanely dumb to not promote the hell out of Gaga's character, I understand that.

But it's getting to a point (not there yet, don't get me wrong) where they are about to over-hype her character and then Gaga fans are gonna get pissed off when she doesn't have 90% of the screen time or sit there during the episide and be all "omg i'm only here for gaga why are they showing this kathy bates person i don't care about her!!!! bring back gaga!!! OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY KILLED GAGA THEY JUST RUINED THE ENTIRE SHOW. omg this episode sucks gaga isn't even in it" . As a fan of AHS and Gaga, I honestly don't want this season to be ruined because of crying Gaga fans. Not to mention the greater the hype, the greater the expectations for the general audience. If she ends up not being as good on screen it's gonna backfire, a lot.
