Chris Brown finally releases his sixth studio album “X”, which had many release delays. The album had one single peak in the top 10, the #9 hit “Loyal”.

Mary Travers of the 60’s group Peter, Paul and Mary, dies of complications from a bone marrow transplant that occurred 4 years earlier. Mary was 72. An interesting fact. Britney Spears’ song “3” references Peter, Paul and Mary and was released just 16 days after Mary’s death. 


2008
Nelly releases his fifth studio album “Brass Knuckles”, becoming his first album not to receive a top 10 or even 20 hit and is his first album to not go platinum or even gold. 


Colby O’Donis releases his first and only album “Colby O” featuring the #14 hit “What You Got” 


Ne-Yo releases his third studio album “Year of the Gentleman” featuring the #7 hit “Closer”, the #7 hit “Miss Independent”, and the #11 hit “Mad”. This album has become Ne-Yo’s highest selling album to date. 


2003
The trendy act of the moment The Ying Yang Twins release their third album “Me & My Brother” featuring the #9 hit “Salt Shaker”. The Ying Yang Twins can be found on Britney Spears’ fourth album “In the Zone” on the track (I Got That) Boom Boom. 


1997
Aaliyah releases the single “The One I Gave My Heart To, which peaked at #9.

Mariah Carey releases her sixth studio album “Butterfly”. The album was responsible for two #1 singles, “Honey” and “My All”. Butterfly also marked a new musical direction for Carey, heading towards more of a hip-hop sound than a contemporary pop sound. To date, Butterfly have sold more than 3.8 million copies in the US.

Usher releases his second album “My Way” featuring one #1 hit (“Nice & Slow) and two #2 hits (“You Make Me Wanna…” and “My Way”). This album has gone on to sell more than 6 million copies in the U.S.
