so is that good or bad

It won't make too much difference to the average person.  The Liberals are still in power. Turnbull supports marriage equality though so that's a good thing

Facts about Turnbull:

- He's a Liberal (same party as Tony Abbott, he just ousted him from the PM position)

- He's really rich ($133million)

- Supports an Australian republic

-  He is Catholic BUT...

- Supports marriage equality

- Is pro-choice

He's a better option that Abbott, but I still don't support the liberals :awkney:

This could actually be huge when it comes to gay marriage.

Tony was trying to pull a swift one and create a plebiscite vote which would have made it harder for gay marriage supporters to win and would have made it extremely tough to overturn if they lost. It would have also meant the issue would be put on the backburner until 2017.

This will lead to a new election and hopefully gay marriage will be a big social issue discussed.

He was born into money, used to be a lawyer and has been involved with a lot of different businesses at the right times. His wife is also a prominent businesswoman.

Turnbull is a republican too! (Not in the US sense - against the monarchy)

He is more progressive than most in the liberal party, but I think the conservative pressures will numb him a bit. Would be better to get a labour prime minister (although I'm not hugely keen on Bill Shorten)

Agreed. Labor need to get someone more dynamic in as leader.
