JGD 12,011
Oh, my watch did (eventually) update. Like the nightstand mode :) I'm planning to get a watch, but I know I don't really need it. It's more like I want it. Even if I do decide to get one, I'm probably going to wait for the 2nd generation watch. What are your uses for the watch? Are you a college student? I just wanted one haha And I ALWAYS have my phone on silent, so the watch has been handy as I get haptic feedback whenever I get a notification. So I can keep my phone on silent and still know when I get a text/email etc right away.

Yeah I keep my phone on silent/vibrate when I'm in class, and I'm tempted to check my notifications but I'd rather not have the professor scold me for using my phone in class (which is ironic because laptops are allowed but not phones). I'd also want a watch so I could check the time without having to take my phone out of my pocket and putting it back in, which can be such a struggle since I wear skinny jeans (especially when you're sitting down). I have a regular watch, but it's too dressy for my mostly casual wardrobe, and my parents would probably tell me to get a normal watch and save hundreds. Have you used the watch for exercise/work out purposes? I'm planning to get more active next year and could use some of the features on the watch, but I've read that you'd still need your phone with you which I'd rather not deal with. I don't want my phone flailing around in my pocket when I run, and I'd rather not hold it either

To be honest I only got the watch yesterday, so I haven't really done any thing with it apart from have it tell me the time. I'm not sure if you need phone with workouts on watch OS 2, I thought I read you didn't but that might not be the case.

Taylor 964
Oh Well, I'll come back to you after some time haha. Which one did you get? I tried the workout app, and it seems to work fine without the phone. I switched off my Bluetooth and it came up with the red phone disconnected message but the Watch and app continued to function. I wanted the Space Black Stainless Steel with Link Bracelet, but it was so expensive. I got the same Space Black Stainless Steel watch, but with the Sport Band (here) and the Black Leather Loop. I'm going down to London in early November just after my birthday, so I plan on looking at the black link bracelet at one of the stores there and getting the band separately if I like it. Now that you point that out, and after reading some of OS 2's improvements, I'm even more tempted to buy one after the holidays. Then again, the next generation will come out around next April or May so I'd probably wait then. But I'm interested in getting the Space Gray Aluminum, Gold Aluminum, or the Space Black Stainless Steel watch. I wish Apple would allow us to "build" our own watch so we could choose which band we want without having to buy it separately. I really like the classic buckle but I don't know if I want to pay another $150 for it.
