Well, the common currency has been benefiting Germany industry and hurting other countries. And German has been taken the lead on the debt crisis and now the immigration crisis.

Nothing Hitler-like, but maybe comparable to George Bush trying to organize a collation against Iraq in 2003 and push other countries to take part. Now it's like "how dare anyone not take the quota of immigrants Angela demands!"

I hope with this, England can back in shape again.

Since, in fact aside of Germany, England is another major country that

Hey, Norway and Switzerland are doing better than Greece and Spain.

Messy  There's nothing wrong with an ever expanding and even closer union. Things like foreign policy, immigration and refugee policy, defense, university education standards, corporate tax, morally necessary regulations, anti-crisis regulations, trade deals, extra taxes on a few consumption items (alcohol for example), police enforcement, welfare, minimum wage, environmental policy and much more are done way better on an international scale than on a national or local scale.

It has benefited every country that joined... The cause of the debt crisis in South Europa in the first place was because the Euro benefited them too much. The industries of West-Europe still benefited from the Euro too.

From a British perspective, it arguably makes sense to have moderately close ties with various English-speaking countries around the globe plus Europe, than to be tightly roped into the EU. Asia is the expanding market, UK has close cultural ties with the Commonwealth, etc. 

For example, why should it be harder for the grandkids of Canadian and Aussie soldiers who fought for UK during the world wars to move to UK than (say) someone from the Balkans?

Why do you compare Greece with Spain? Spain is the fastest growing country in the European Union this year.

It was overall a good thing until the common currency and (now) open borders is becoming problematic. Notice, nobody who stayed outside the Euro is regretting it. (Brown is now seen as a hero for keeping UK out over wishes of Tony Blair.) Sweden is obliged by treaty to join but is intentionally dragging it's feet.

That's great to hear! I just know you guys went through harsh austerity for awhile and had massive youth unemployment (although not as bad as Greece).

Thanks! Yup unfortunately unemployment is still our biggest problem but things are getting better, I'm positive about the future

I sort of agree that the EU does have too much power in some aspects and that it shouldn't dictate national policies. I like some of it aspects, the practical ones like: making it easier for people to move withing, work in the EU and free trade zone etc... However I also think that if we don't unit in time of crisis like what we have now with the Syrian refugee, what is the point of the EU? it should allow us to discuss solutions both temporary and long term regarding something that will happen anyway (illegal immigrants aren't something new and they will come unfortunately that you want or not and that's a bigger issue) 

Then I don't think that Norway or Switzerland are comparable to Greece or Spain. The first two are quite remote, and Switzerland made sure to stay remote and neutral to protect it self but are they really example to follow regarding their view or foreigners?

Norway is a leading country when it comes to have the least corrupted government , you can't say the same regarding Greece, this isn't the EU's fault only... But I do think that the Euros was a mistake for almost everyone, it could have work with countries that are more similar economically but the eurozone is too big.

I have to admire how Spain is handling the crisis, it's tough but it seems that people want change and take more local initiatives. One of my best friend lives there and I think the changes are interesting, I wish I would come there soon to see by my self.
