MIC : Taylor swift is deeply Fake

the problem with that is that you're so far down the rabbit hole that even if she did something "real" (God knows what that even means) you'd probably still label it as fake on an impulse

I don't agree, I think some of her relationships seem genuine, with Lorde & Selena Gomez for instance. But I do absolutely believe that her nicey nice girl persona is fake and the way she parades her 'squad' of famous friends around is clearly a publicity thing.

How often do we really even see them though. I mean of course they would show up to the VMA's, it was nominated for VOTY and they were in it.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

At the end of the day, her field, the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY is a BUSINESS afterall. Would you be mad at your local store when you find out that the main reason they had the "10 Cent Hersey's Chocolate Sale" last week was to attract more customers and have them buy other merchandise as well? I dont think so. Regardless of what people say, EVERYONE in the industry is a BUSINESS and a PRODUCT, even Lady Gaga or else she wouldnt be partnering with other companies like Beats or Shiseido.

I just hate how she keeps posting pic with her "Friends," and inviting guests to her show. They look fake. Other than that, I'm fine with her.

I just think she became really immature.

Her first albums had maturity, but as I said before, as you grow you get more... opportunistic. I'm waiting for her to crash and burn so she can put her feets back to earth, just like Gaga did, because she's getting completely ridiculous and unlikable at this point.

Less mature? Or just not maturing?

As a teen she got credit for writing decent songs from the perspective of an average teen girl. But she's been in the pop star bubble ever since, rather than going to college or having typical life experiences, so now she seems like a 25 year old who i still mentally in high school in some ways (her girl clique, or bad blood feud). Even if she's like a super-accomplished corporate exec in others.

I do personally think Taylor's whole persona has changed a bit.  Part may be due to confidence, but lately it's been a bit too much.  On the other hand, it's not her fault that almost everyone is kneeling at her feet.  What else is she suppose to do?

I wonder if Taylor's gay pop stans love her for different things than her mainstream girl fans? If you love her for her commercial success and being the closest thing right now to early Britney or early Gaga ... that's not what her Fearless era girl fans signed up for.

She was never a "weird" misfit like Gaga, but once she was the awkward girl rather than the head cheerleader with all the friends.

I see your point, that comparisson is sort of what happens in this fanbase between the The Fame + Monster fans versus Born This Way fans.

Taylor Swift grew up from album to album, she became more confident in herself... but she's still the awkward girl in my eyes, what have changed is that she doesn't care anymore.

Is it fear to call a person "fake" just because she gained confidence in herself? Of course not. But media is never fear when it comes to female popstars, and I think it's pretty obvious that, as becomes usual with the biggest female singer of the moment (from Marilyn, to Cher, Madonna, Kylie, Mariah, Britney, Christina, Gaga... all the big ones have been through the same), the media is nitpicking to find her "flaws" and "drag" her.

The thing about her is that she barely commands any respect from important figures in the industry. And by respect I don't mean simply taking Instagram pictures + joining her onstage.

How is she going to survive long term if even her contemporaries don't take her seriously?

As for Gaga, even with all her crazy antics, she commands a certain level of respect from legends.

As she notches more wins and engineers more brilliant pop moments, it's becoming harder and harder to see her as the adorable misfit we've been rooting for throughout her career.

it's an age-old tale. they build you up to tear you down.
— gagz during her sxsw keynote speech

it's nothing new, really.

Authenticity is important in building a fan base in pop. No one did it better than Swift.

yes, gagz did it better. she explicitly stated that one of her intentions was to bring back the old-school fan culture that was lost.

and she did.

if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back
