Admin 24,441
Guys you are missing my (and possibly Chrissie's point).Who is stupid enough to say that the rapists are not the problem? That's not the point. The point is that as long as there are rapists, women should be careful with what they wear, especially at night, if they don't want to become an easy target. It sucks, and it shouldn't be this way, but it's reality. As an example, if you go away for a week and leave all your doors and windows open, and then come back to an empty apartment, would you also say that it's not your fault? Jesse Pinkman 4,660
That's a ****ed up mentality to have. Women should be able to walk around feeling confident qnd s-xy without feeling like their life is in danger. So now when a woman goes to an event, she has to be sober while wearing a pantsuit and flats? Come on now.I dont care how the woman is carrying herself, if someone has s-x with her without her permission they are completely in the wrong. It's science, bitch

Especially at night. But if a girl is looking s-xy and showing skin when she's just out trying to have a good time at an appropriate setting, you can't use that argument for if she gets raped. There's no denying that it is unfortunate that women can be raped by simply enjoying their birth given right to wear what they like. However, the way Chrissie phrased it, it sounds like women are ASKING to be raped and that they should not wear what they want. That is the part I do not agree with. Women all around the world should wear whatever they like. Rapists will continue to rape when there's no skin to see and most likely also feel like they are in charge when their sick behavior affects women's way of dressing. This example of a rapist hiding in the bushes and jumping out to grab a girl is the least common type of rape that happens. The most common types of rape are committed by people we know in private settings. Research has proven all of this. Research has proven that a rapist isn't focusing on outfit- they're focusing on personality and vulnerability. If you think you're protecting your daughter by making her wear pants, you're not.You protect your daughter by teaching her to respect herself, to be confident, and not allow herself to be blamed if someone else wants to take advantage of her. Rapists are looking at body language, not body type. They're looking at how you carry your personality, not what type of shoes carry your feet. They want the least threatening person, the person they're sure won't be strong enough to call them out or speak up.
Sister 9,907
I can not believe that Chrissie Hynde even bothered opening her mouth on this subject and that she feels that she has a good point. Disappointed in her thoughts here. I have always thought that she was a strong woman and a woman's woman. She blames the victim and is herself, a victim. Perhaps she is traumatized. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
TimisaMonster 31,073
I agree with her...dressing provocatively (most dress like this) increases your chances of being s-xually assaulted and even more so if you're going to a party with the intention of doing d--gs or getting drunk...When you are no longer able to think clearly and are dressed like that...yeah guys may be more likely to take advantage of you. Rape isn't always VIOLENT...it can also be manipulating someone into doing things they didn't consent to s-xually...Then you wake up with a hang over and your underwear around you ankles and wonder what happened to you... aaronyoji 2,054
That's true, but if you had a daughter, would you let her walk alone in her underwear at night? maybe we should teach boys something when theyre young too?? maybe? like maybe not rape or s-xual assault women or blame women for their own actions constantly? maybe if we taught that first, we could allow our daughters to roam around at night in her underwear. maybe we should just teach men to not do bad things to women.... I never said SOLE responsibility... Of course the person doing the raping is at fault more so than the victim, yet if the victim presented themselves in a way that they were either dressed OVERLY provocatively or under the influence of heavy d--gs/alcohol...things could happen and they need to be aware that we don't live in a rapeless world...Dress up....not HOE DOWNLike I said...don't put yourself in a situation where that could happen...it simply comes down to that. Not like the person was asking to be raped...What situation would that be? The one where females trust males who are friends and family members...because approximately 4/5 of assaults are committed by someone known to the victim. This 85 per cent aren't walking down a backroad at night in a their underwear, while being drunk and high.

Whispering 18,865
You again? Situation meaning "don't put yourself in a vulnerable position that would enhance the chances of s-xual assault"You have a problem? You know what enhances the chances of s-xual assault? Being a female. Being around males, including teachers and family members. What do you expect females to do about that? Especially when they are too young to even understand that something like that could even happen. Percentage of s-xual assault and rape victims under the age of 12: 15 percentHow are you going to blame them? Did they wear something they shouldn't have?
