They need to reinvent the VMAs as a serious, industry voted award show and nominate videos with actual artistic merit like in the 80s and 90s. Also more killer performances

Still 9,8 with all the networks

Well if that's the case we gotta take all the networks into account as well for previous years.

40 per cent drop? :omg:

Guess Miley being a host didn't draw in the viewers. Lol

I honestly only watched the performances and award presentations and recipients' speeches. I have no idea what Miley did that night.

I think MTV messed up by airing it on multiple channels, hence the rating split up. They should of had confidence and just aired it on MTV, causing it generate just one high rating, instead of many low ratings.

that makes no difference on total ratings tho. If anything ud get more cuz more ppl would happen to run into it that dont always whatch

Maybe the issue is that MTV is casting a large demographic net but only really catering to a significantly narrowed sample of that population. Thoughts?

"Record on twitter"...yeah, did they read the tweets? Everybody had something to say, but mostly bad things...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

That completely goes against the identity that MTV has "built" over the past years though. It almost seems like they purposely don't want anyone to take them seriously anymore.

Well yeah I agree but that doesn't mean that MTV itself wants to change it
