Try listening to these songs to get a feel of what actual experimental music is like.

(Turn down the volume beforehand tho! Also, key word is "try." :fan:)

Yes this is experimental but not pop. ArtPOP. No one is saying she is creating experimental music. Experimental pop. Artistic pop  ARTPOP. She didn't put an album out of Call Me Maybe's.

How I see it, is that ARTPOP as a concept is very complex, and is collectively super high-concept, and that things... didn't turn out how she wanted it to be, both in the album and in initial promotion.

When she wants to pay a tribute to an artist, she emulates the artist's vocal style while still retaining some of her own style (Applause).

True.

Slay Enigma. :flutter:

Fill this thread with your positivism, Lady Valo

I'm sorry but who is Gaga imitating vocally in Applause? :what:

The style of writing wasn't experimental imo...it still followed a classic song structure...

The songs that were the most experimental AT FIRST became watered down when out on the album....yeah I'm talking about Aura

Overall, I get what you're trying to say but imo...ARTPOP was too commercial to be anything truly experimental the way Gaga originally had in mind...I mostly blame Interscope for making her go back to the studio 15 times to change songs :saladga:

Experimental doesn't equal interesting.

The techniques Gaga uses are all very interesting and provide much scope for a--lysis. However, they are not experimental. Some you speak of are more uncommon than others (namely two different characters in Sexxx Dreams), however none of them are very experimental as they have all been done before. Some are more unique than others, but still, none of them are experimental.

I don't hear it... :awkney:

I'm not even a Bowie fan and I hear it.

"The Guardian admitted it was "a relief that the song's intro is brilliantly camp, adding: "All squelchy synths and juddering beats, Gaga singing in an oddly pitched, almost David Bowie-esque vocal style. A ridiculous glam-rock song given a techno makeover. It's good to have her back."

 http://m.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a506284/lady-gagas-applause-gets-mixed-reaction-from-critics.html#~pn3ANgjlAFB2Y9

"Musically, the song contains electropop and Eurodance. Lyrically, it deals with how she is dependent on her fans' adoration, while her vocals on the track have been compared by music critics to those of Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics and David Bowie. "
