Whenever people talk about an album being experimental, people are usually think about the sound of the album. And while ARTPOP does have some sonically experimental songs, I think this album is much more experimental in songwriting and in singing styles.

With ARTPOP, Gaga showcases many interesting styles of songwriting. For example, Venus uses is collage of related words to paint an overall theme. Aura uses a collage of Gaga's emotions and Ideas to provide and inside look into her mind. In Sex Dreams, Gaga takes the roles of two different characters, one that talks and one that sings, one that is dreaming and one that is not, in order to showcase her feelings. With the title song ARTPOP, Gaga uses many artistic metaphors to describe her feelings. And with Gypsy, Gaga takes the classical route of songwriting but still sings as if she was people. And this are just some of the examples, because if you dig deep into all her songs, they all have some very experimental and unique writing styles.

Now, Gaga is just as experimental and diverse with her vocals. With ARTPOP, Gaga changes her singing style just as much as she changes her clothes. Gaga always had an experimental technique of changing her vocal style in all of her albums, but it is even more evident with ARTPOP. When she wants to pay a tribute to an artist, she emulates the artist's vocal style while still retaining some of her own style (Applause). When she wants to portray two characters, sometimes she decides so sing and talk. And there are other times when she screams, squeals, and or changes her falsetto style depending on the emotion and style of song.

So all in all, Gaga was very experimental in her songwriting and singing with ARTPOP. There just aren't many albums that have this kind of experimentation. When you take a quick glance at ARTPOP, this may not seem obvious. But paying close attention reveals a lot of uniqueness and originality from Gaga.

There's literally nothing experimental about the album. Look up the definition of experimental music and then re-consider what you've said. But I've seen enough of your threads to know better than to go any further with this, no offence :rip:

I guess you can't read :smh:. Paying tribute is not what is experimental, is the way she sings and expresses it to do so.

yes,i do think ARTPOP is experimental...just because it doesnt have some complex music structures or some strange beats doesnt mean that its not experimental.

Sexxx dreams,Mary Jane Holland,ARTPOP,Aura,Venus(at some levels) are experimental imo :whitney:

Interesting/different =/= experimental

Just because it's not a 2D generic pop album, doesn't make it an experimental masterpiece. I wish fans would get over this.

Born Brave

ARTPOP was experimental yes, people say it wasn't because it sounded commercial. Born This Way was more experimental but people just totally forgot that it was experimental because it had commercial success and had over 1 million sales.

Well this in my opinion. And I have heard many experimental album. But Gaga's ARTPOP is definitely experimental in many different ways. The albums is something that seems very pop and mainstream, but deep down is very experimental, original, and metaphorical.
