Chic 20,830
She could branch out and approach the idea more holistically from different views but she repeatedly goes at it from the same perspective. 1. Find baby noun2. Use a pun or metaphor 3. Use xylophone/music box sound to act cuteThere's a difference between cohesiveness and repetition. 1/2 of the album is unnecessaryIts would be a great EP, not so much album. Here let me try. Crib. Cribs like a jail, draw comparison to the bars of the crib and jail bars, say how you're trapped, could be abuse or d--gs or whatever. Done. Pitched drums and music box sounds. I created a MM song. Well, there you go. "A Melanie Martinez song". I think it's a great thing to have something like that attributed to an artist, because it means she's contributed something unique that you know is her style. Repetition breeds iconography, and she did it brilliantly. Is there anything wrong with being repetitive in music, much less a concept album? You say it was cute for 3 songs. If it was only 3 songs that used this concept, the album wouldn't be nearly as intriguing as it is. It's such an incredible album and I can't that you would want it to be like other albums that only have a theme for a handful of songs. The album is a charm.
