Creyk 17,099
This thread became such a stupid pointless argument It should be locked tbh I mean yes, Taylor copied her but what can we do about it? The song still slays.
Haroon 49,685
Let's keep this thread on-topic and away from bickering please But yeah I recorded the pre-show on our TV and I keep replaying the video, it's probably my favourite from the album era after Style Like I've listened to Wildest Dreams since the album came out but this video has made me love the song way more, I can't get the beautiful imagery and storyline out of my head when I'm listening to it
Kacey Elizabeth 900
Exactly. It's really not a stretch. Doesn't matter that it only resembles it in the chorus, it's still a rip-off. Maybe it was all coincidental but come on, she was totally inspired by Lana for this song, meaning she listened to Lana's music and got a feel for her style. Without You is a bonus track, so that could be Taylor's get out clause as in "it's only on a specific edition, most people won't track it down, so the chances of me copying it are slim." But I don't buy it. If I had been inspired by an artist to write a tune, I would listen very carefully to the melodies of all their work afterwards to make sure it wasn't similar. Lana only has 2 albums and a re-release, so it wouldn't take long. Listening to another artist's work when you make your own isn't the smartest idea in the world. That was Diana Vickers' excuse when Red Hot Chili Peppers accused her of stealing the melody from their song, Under The Bridge. She claimed she hadn't meant it but it might have happened accidentially because she was listening to this song when she wrote hers and that she had noticed the similarity but decided to do nothing about it. *facepalm* At least she was honest.I think it's just more than the chorus. At first when I listened to Wildest Dreams, it sounded very familiar, and very Lana-ish. Your Candy Perfume Girl
Kacey Elizabeth 900
And for the whole Roar-Brave thing, the only similar thing they have with each other is the opening tune. Your Candy Perfume Girl

So, thank you, Katy Perry for that!" - Sara Bareilles They sound so much alike that everytime I heard Brave on the radio, I thought...Katy's voice has gotten a hundred times better...then I realized it was Brave. Lol Of course, there is also California Gurls and Tik Tok...and that Christian song that sounded like Darkhorse. Katy is just full of these "copykat" songs. The controversies dramatically increased Brave's radio play. Despite peaking at only #23 on the Hot 100, it peaked at #2 on the US Adult Contemporary chart, and when it peaked, it jumped from #7 the previous week. Guess which song blocked it from ever reaching #1... Still, Brave was an even bigger radio hit than Applause was.
PaperIz 7,308
the reach is f/cking ridiculous. those sjw will do anything tbh. they need a life and stop finding every thread they can find and make a ridiculous essay out of it. i mean like its getting truly insane what people will categorize as racism. Like go focus on people that are harming people with real racism, not a pop star who made a video that literally harmed no one. Yea WTF is wrong with this world every thing has to be a problem. No one can just exist and enjoy something. Human generated art
