you don't understand soul. she sang the song in the exact way it was composed. she did not randomly whale over the actual song like christina aguilera does all the time. she sang it how it was meant to be sung.

oversinging is when you whale over the actual song or ruin the song itself by placing runs, etc over the song and exaggerating notes badly. jessie j did not oversing this. this is the exact composition. your issues are with the song itself, not jessie j

In this case, the song is oversung and Jessie J did not make it any better because she is oversinging exactly like the studio version, so no, I have a problem with both. The definition of oversinging isn't exclusive to the comparison of one example against another.

Say there's a recipe online based off food from a cooking show and the end result is downright awful. If someone makes the recipe exactly the way it says, that doesn't make it any less awful, it makes their presentation just as awful as the original recipe's end result. That doesn't reflect on them as a chef, but you can still criticize their presentation of it even if it's exactly the same; that doesn't make either good.
