Will Hotel mirror The Hunger?

I noticed someone mention The Hunger on an AHS Facebook post so I looked into the movie and it seems there are a lot of potential similarities here!

"The Hunger is a 1983 British erotic horror film directed by Tony Scott, and starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon. It is the story of a love triangle between a doctor who specialises in sleep and ageing research and a vampire couple.

Miriam Blaylock (Catherine Deneuve) is a beautiful and dangerous immortal vampire, promising specially chosen humans eternal life as her vampire lovers. As the film begins, her vampire companion is John (David Bowie), a talented cellist whom she married in 18th century France.

Periodically killing and feeding upon human victims, allows Miriam and John to possess eternal youth or what the latter was led to believe.

Sarah comes looking for John at his home but only finds Miriam. With the two women feeling an attraction towards each other, Miriam acts upon this as she now feels alone after losing her lover and the young girl she was grooming. (In a memorable scene during a piano adaptation of The Flower Duet, Sarah says: "Are you making a pass at me, Mrs. Blaylock?" Miriam softly replies: "Miriam, please.") The two have a s-xual encounter during which, without Sarah being fully aware of it, Miriam bites her arm and a blood exchange occurs in which some of Miriam's blood enters Sarah's body.

I see some similarities here. Beautiful and dangerous "vampire"? Desire to reverse the aging process? A love triangle? Feeding upon human victims? The "vampire" already having a love interest prior to the love triangle in the beginning? A lesbian fling? Sexual encounters? The similar short haired blonde look shared by Catherine and Gaga?

What do you think?

Ummmm.  You may be onto something here, Chic.  I do see the similarities, tbh.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

I wouldn't be surprised. AHS always references horror films or suspense from the past. Freakshow notably referenced Psycho for Finn's character.

I really hope Hotel won't take a too supernatural direction, but thanks for this observation. I'm gonna watch this film right away actually, I love Catherine.

I don't think Gaga's character will be immortal - they've implied they are steering away from supernatural elements of vampirism. I think she's just gonna be a blood-sucking/drinking human, maybe believing it will reverse ageing but I don't think she'll actually be immortal, ngl I would kinda cringe at anything cliche like that.

The other things mentioned though, it definitely is plausible and there are clear visual similarities between Catherine and Elizabeth as well!

based on your observations, i wouldn't be surprised if the movie functioned as a reference point both in terms of narrative and aesthetic elements. not to mention bowie. what if he makes a cameo appearance? gagz would finally have the chance to meet him. :hor:

I'm getting some serious Suspiria/inferno by Dario argento vibes from this season. For all the non horror geeks. It's a very odd 70s movie where a witch lives in an apartment complex and feeds off the energy of all the occupants. Just the lighting from that picture of Gaga and bomer gives it away. Argento was known for his elaborate lighting using primary colors. Think that party scene in Coven when Madison gets raped
