As I was listening to the song, I just couldn't help thinking that her voice doesn't suit ballads very well... The thing is, I think she can sing some ballads beautifully (such as the Oscars and the majority of Cheek to Cheek). But with the ballads she writes for herself, she uses this low, husky voice that just doesn't sound pleasant to the ears... which IMO is the whole point of a ballad. Also i feel like her timing is slightly off in some places during the first verse. At the end when she doubles her voice, the harmonies sound off. Besides those things, i love the song. She sang beautifully at the Oscars and on Cheek to Cheek. But on this ballad she's using that low husky voice you are talking about, which doesn't sound good.... She has that same sound on Dope...
