People who think ARTPOP is better than TFM...are...just...out of this planet...and are probably deaf :awkney:

But to be fair, you can't really compare the two. I swear this discussion comes up every month or two.

They are quite comparable actually, ARTPOP is very much in the same stylistic vain as The Fame Monster, there's a reason she called it "The Fame Monster's little sister". She basically made a full-on return to the classic Gaga sound and song formula present on TFM, complete with darker prodution and themes. The albums have pretty much the exact same loose "concept", with every song being about her fears/demons.

But yes TFM is overall a much greater execution of the style. The production is considerably stronger, and the mood/atmosphere it creates is unparalleled in her discography, which is also helped by the mixing/mastering being leagues more professionally done. Overall it's a more confident project, and of course it sn't held down by so much dead weight like ARTPOP is. If we were just comparing it to AP's 8 strongest songs it would be a more interesting comparison.

Hm, I've never thought about it this way before. I guess you're right. You could even say that ARTPOP's lyrics touch upon darker themes than The Fame Monster (Swine, DWUW, Dope), despite the upbeat-sounding synths they're attached to. Clever!

Although, I don't think they're comparable sonically, purely because of the songwriting and how most of ARTPOP's music was written independently to the lyrics. Concept wise, they're similar, but I think TFM was written organically (correct me if I'm wrong!) and that makes a hell of a lot of difference.

ARTPOP trumps all :neyde: for me at least :dies:

It's the most personally relatable

ARTPOP > Born This Way > Cheek to Cheek > The Fame Monster > The Fame

🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

Mister Gaga

It is, actually. ARTPOP is Gaga's second best album :whitney:. Every song tells a different story, and has it's own production. Glad y'all are finally opening your eyes :whitney:

I don't think ARTPOP has many "deep" songs, lyric-wise (except "Dope", "Swine" perhaps etc. - but I guess it subjective, so), that's why I personally find "The Fame Monster" more interesting in a way.
