You see, when I listen to a song without a video, I try to interpret it based entirely on the literal words. Before the video, the story seemed clear. And as it's a very simple video, there seemed to be no other interpretation for it other than the original interpretation with no video. So, that's all I see when I watch it. I have mixed feelings about videos that differ hugely from the storyline you were expecting because they can either be amazing or terrible. I just like the original interpretation because all the lyrics make sense with this interpretation. If it really is about obsessive paparazzi, what do lyrics like "loving you is hard, being here is harder," "You could be a bad motherf****r, but that don't make you a man," "We can't survive, we're sinking into the sand," and "I'll do it on my own, don't need your money to get me what I want" have to do with the anything about paparazzi? All the critics said after listening to the track that she was singing about a lover. I think that's what it is about, she just decided to go in a very different direction for the video.

When it comes to music videos, I'm quite a literal person. I like them to match up with what's happening on screen. It's not that I don't like thinking, it's just that I think the intentions of a music video should be clear and understandable. That's why I'm always desperate to know exactly what an artist meant by an abstract video. My interpretation is all well and good but I think the artist's vision is of very high importance, seeing as they made it. If I was an artist, I would go into indepth detail about every single one of my videos either in the description or through videoed explanations. I don't like people to go around with the wrong impression of my work, particularly if it's a negative impression that I didn't intend. I think interpreting art in a way that moves you personally is fine but you should know what the intended meaning was all the same.

It's just that when you define it as low budget and boring and that's all you can say, it makes it seem like you define art in a very narrow way, with super strict criteria. And I think art should be very open minded and have very limited rules. Surely you can't think just because a video didn't cost much money, it's automatically bad? Sure, some can be, but not because they were low budget, but because the low budget wasn't used correctly. I only use "low budget" as an insult when a video is unbelievably tacky with a low quality vision experience, with no apparent effort to even try to make a good video. And just out of curiosity, what do you regard as an exciting video? And can a video only be exciting or boring for you, no in between?

On that note, I'd like to take the time to apologise for that unprovoked attack on you yesterday. It was only after I'd gone to bed that I regretted writing it and think I just got a bit carried away. I originally just wanted to write a sarky little comment and it snowballed. I actually wondered if I might login to a WP but no, but I was probably quite lucky in that respect. I've always been frustrated at the unfair criticism Lana gets sometimes despite being supremely talented and get especially annoyed when I think there's no good reason behind it or the person's view is bit inconsistent. You're free to like whatever you like, I just couldn't resist pointing out something I thought was somewhat ironic but ultimately, I should reserve that for a relevant topic. Sorry again.

Sorry for derailing it,. I promise I won't talk about it again and as you can see, I apologised to Whispering for what I said yesterday. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt by not giving me a WP, by the way.

I think she likes to do a lot of play on words, giving her songs double meanings. It makes it more interesting, and everyone's opinion is different. I think the song is both about a lover and the papparazzi.
