Hey, do I need to watch previous seasons before I start this one? Or can I jump right into Hotel?

Each season is its own story. You can jump into this one.

Also the rape scene... Very mixed feelings on that. I don't buy that Ryan had a specific moral compass in mind when creating it. It felt done for comedic effect almost... very triggering in my opinion. It felt like an exploitation... felt unnecessary.

Personally I think Freak Show was pretty amazing. It never once confused me. I thought Murphy laid it all out well. It was just the ending that I didn't like....I would watch it and try not to take it too seriously. The whole idea is taken from the FREAKS movie 1932.

But uh I will say that HOTEL looks like it will be the most complicated Season yet...

I don't understand people who say it was too disturbing and triggering and gory. It's supposed to be.

American HORROR Story.

It's supposed to make you uncomfortable and make you wanna change the channel when someone comes in from how inappropriate it is.

You kids would not handle HBO shows :smh:

Can we talk about how, for the first time ever, the teasers actually had something to do with the story???

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

No, I agree, 100%. I just feel like rape is on a different plane of horror. I don't know.

Well thats what AHS is all about. They always push boundaries and make you feel that way.  I actually thought it was a very compelling and powerful scene. Sarah Paulson did a great job.

It's science, bitch

From a pop cultural stand point?

It has the chops to be iconic.

Bomer.

All the seasons had rape scenes :ghost:

Except Freakshow? I don't remember rape in Freakshow.

You're right. I've watched it all. I think why I have this opinion is based on the fact everyone around me was laughing at it, so its intentions on hitting a viewer hard was skewed. I thought it was horrifying. But I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Which, might actually be effective horror.

I can understand how it makes some people uncomfortable. I've seen a lot of old horror movies from the 1970's and 80's where the ghost/entity rapes the individual. Murphy is taking a lot of these old ideas and ramping them way way up. It's pretty intense, but then again when you are a junkie everything in your world is dark and twisted. That is what HOTEL is going to focus on. Not that I am hoping we see too many more scenes like that. One was enough!
