bionic 48,186
People in this thread saying Katy moved her release date up to compete with Gaga when the original Roar release date was the day Applause was ultimately released on. It was moved up by 2 days from the 12th to the 10th. stream bionic
yASSsss 35,510
The real mess was Gaga preaching about how she didn't want female pop stars to be seen as competitors and then starting her own lame Twitter catfight with Katy because she invented green wigs and horse puppets. did she lie tho ...if it was me,I probably would've done the same... Gags was treated so badly by media, her every step was crticized, while her contemporary singers were gaining praise, topping the charts.. So I can understand from where her frustration came .if my work handled such biased criticism,i would be pissed off too. and its not like whatever Gaga said in past, she's entitled to hold on to that opinion Also ,Katy blatantly copied her style ,,Green wig was a reach but Mechanical horse and the puke art,I mean c'mon ....its not about inventing green wigs or horse puppets, its about Katy did all these things after Gags Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine

Katy's album (or singles for that matter) didn't receive more praise than Gaga and her promo performances were criticized by multiple fanbases every single time. The commercial success (and only for her first two singles) was the only gain that Katy made this era. So the only thing Gaga could've been frustrated with is that Katy became more popular, which is pretty petty Disagree about Katy "blatantly" copying her style too. The color changes were an obvious part of Katy's concert concept. The green wig actually had a multi-faceted purpose in the show. The horse puppet could clearly have been inspired by the BTWB but it was reinterpreted in a completely different visual. The BTWB was one of the most talked about tours of recent memory, Katy is not stupid enough (to use Gaga's post-BTW/EY logic in NME) to actually copy something like that and try to pass it off as her own invention. It's not even that exciting an idea It's not the first time Gaga called out other artists for doubtful copying. It's just sad to me because she, more than anyone, should know what it feels like to be dragged for it and god knows she's done her share of "blatantly copying" (in your words, not mine) since her very start. Anyway, it was just a sad move, the end.
TimisaMonster 31,073
You're so wrong. http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sn8jhr?new_post=true Please do not talk about a thing which you have no idea of. You're probably just lying to yourself so you can comfort yourself over the fact that Katy is so successful. Bitterness is not a good thing, honey. Btw, why was Katy annoying in the PRISM era? Because she was more successful than Gaga in that era? OMG, grow up. Coming from an obvious Katy stan based on your avi and post...your opinion is biased and therefore invalid Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! TimisaMonster 31,073
A little objectivity wouldn't hurt though. Both Gaga & Katy are involved in the creation of their music yet you refuse to acknowledge Perry's input just because you dislike her. Maybe if you looked at my OP...I said she has very little input...not none at all...otherwise there's no point on Katy being a pop star...she has some decision making but she isn't the core of her "art" let's all be honest... Kacey Elizabeth 900
I am still disgusted at the way katheryn's team arranged the release of Roar after Gaga announced Applause in order to use the comparisons to bring katheryn up.She is truly the worst and I can't wait for the karma to hit her in the face. Stay salty. This whole thing was two years ago. Get over it. And what do we have here? You first discredit Katy and say that her team arranged Roar's release after Gaga announced Applause, but then say that she's the worst? Shouldn't you say that her team is the worst? LMAO. Make up your mind. You have no arguments whatsoever. You cannot stand behind what you say. How sad. Even if there's bad karma (which I highly doubt) waiting for Katy, it wouldn't be for this. Yes, Roar overshadowed Applause, but the reason the ARTPOP era didn't do that well in general was because of Gaga's marketing issues and the problems that she had with her team and management. She also has had nothing but positive things to say about Gaga. Mechanical horse was there because the name of the song is Dark Horse. What was Katy supposed to ride? And the paint vomit thing was like a representation of a prism and how it works. I'm not saying that those were Katy's original ideas, but if anything, they were just inspirations. If we were to compare this to Gaga, Katy took Gaga's idea and gave it her own signature, twist, feeling and touch. Many artists and musicians (including Gaga herself) do it. It's a never-ending process. It always happens. Your Candy Perfume Girl

Indeed, it was a low blow. But yeah, I don't know whether to blame Katy or her team or both. It is ultimately the label who decide release dates, so I guess it should be them. It was all over the media that Katy's album was only half-done shortly before Gaga made the big album and single release announcement. There was nothing known about Katy's album at this stage, no title, no single title, nothing, just that it was halfway done, which meant it was likely going to be an early 2014 release. Everyone thought Gaga's lead single at the very least was safe from Katy competition. Then, unbelievably, Katy announced that she was going to release her lead single real soon, the week before Gaga's. Not long afterwards, she announced the whole album and said it was coming out in October, a month before Gaga's. That is in no way a coincidence. There's a reason why major artists rarely release albums in the same week - because labels keep abreast of releases in secret, before they're announced to the public, so there's no clashes and they must have been aware of Gaga's dates before the announcement. It was a seriously shady move, obviously done to make the most of Katy's current success, knowing the world would likely prefer her over Gaga. Maybe those articles about the album being half done were made to throw people off the scent so that they'd be surprised, but I have my doubts. It happened before Beyonce started the trend of surprise releases, after all. I could totally see Capitol pulling Katy into a meeting and saying: "Gaga's releasing her lead real soon and album pre-orders will start at the same time. You're going to release Roar earlier than planned and you're going to get that album completed by early October at the earliest. Work round the clock if you have to, shove any old crap together, just have it out before November!" It honestly wouldn't surprise me if half of Prism was knocked up in a few weeks. Some songs sound so rushed and forgettable.I hoped the world would pick the better single to make successful, but they didn't. The whole era was ruined because of that terrible start. Don't underestimate how badly a bad start can impact on an entire album's potential to be a hit. Capitol may be great at promoting and pushing their artists but they're so soul-less and money-grabbing about it. But to deliberately set out to sabotage another artist's era? It's pure evil. She was pretty much done with PRISM by the time Gaga announced Applause. Your Candy Perfume Girl
