Black Delivery Driver Replaced After Customer Wanted Whites Only

A manager at a Virginia Lowe’s replaced an African-American delivery truck driver with a white employee after a customer requested that only white people deliver packages to her home, which the home improvement and appliance retailer says should have never happened.

After getting a call last week on the truck from a manager telling him to bring the package back so someone else could deliver it, Marcus Bradley said, "I asked him why I couldn't do it and he said, ‘Because you're black,’” according to ABC affiliateWSET-TV in Lynchburg-Roanoke.

Bradley, delivering for a Danville store, says the manager told him the customer asked Lowe's not to send a black delivery person, the station reported.

ABC News has been unable to reach Bradley, and the woman who requested a white delivery driver declined to comment to ABC News.

In a statement to ABC News, Lowe’s said, "There had been a customer who had requested only white delivery drivers to deliver an item to her home. After we learned of a situation that a manager had pulled the driver from the delivery, we did a quick investigation. The three managers who had been part of that decision are no longer part of the company. We have zero tolerance for behavior of that kind.

This racism sh*t needs to stop. What does the color of your skin have to do with your work quality? That woman is sickening beyond. She deserves to be shunned honestly. I'm slowly losing faith in America. I mean every country has racist people but for some reason my country seems to be so vocal and upfront about it in a way where the citizens have no shame in hurting people's feelings...or even killing them. This may not be true but for some reason I felt like equality was kinda progressing during the 90s and 2000s and a lot of people got along and everyone was kinda together. Now it's like we're slowly going back to the way it was a few decades ago. I could be wrong but that's just how I see it. Don't get me wrong though, we have progressed in a way where gay marriage is now legal nation wide and interracial relationships aren't seen as "bizarre" but unfortunately that's not going to seal the bottle. Racist people are always going to be around but now days it feels like people are dangerously more obvious about it and it's kinda sad/scary because I wish humans would just see each other as one race which is the human race but sadly it wont ever happen. Every day I hear about a black person getting mistreated, I get so frustrated because although I'm not black, I feel bad that black people have to constantly worry about their lives all because of their skin color and stupid "stereptypes" that aren't even legit. I just don't understand why would you fire someone because of their skin color, why don't you want a black delivery guy? If you put a black guy and a white guy together obviously their skin colors are different but if you skin them alive, they look the same, we're all pink, yellow, white, and red inside. We're just sacks of flesh, fat, muscles and bones and we're not that much different physically. Black, white, latino, asian, whatever we're all primates and we should just see each other as humans but a lot of the human race have this communist mentality that the paler you are the more you are respected and it's bull**** because it should be the more sweetheart and loving person you are, the more you are respected.

I feel like racism in the '90s and '00s was more swept under the rug and hush hush, but maybe because of the age of social media and internet culture, everything is being exposed again.

Idk I'm only 20 years old, so I wasn't really aware as I am now back then, but that's just my interpretation of everything. But all in all it's just a sad, sad world we live in.

Oh, look. The comments on the article are defending the racist woman by saying "You don't know her history, a black man could have killed her family!"

Even if that was true, if I'm a school principal and I say "I don't want white kids in my school, they might shoot up the place" there would be public outrage. This is not justified in ANY way.
