Economy 52,845
http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/canada/toronto/stephen-harper-delighted-to-slow-down-kathleen-wynne-s-pension-plan-1.3187225 The Ontario Government last year passed a bill to create their own pension fund to add to that of the Federal Governments, a move that will cost each worker 2% of their income. Canadas Federal Conservative Government has openly showed their strong disapproval for the plan calling it a "big tax increase" Canadas Prime Minister has vowed to use all legal means to attempt to stop or at the very least slow down the process. Last year the Prime Minister stated he had nothing useful to discuss with Ontario's Government and publicly slammed the Province for destroying its finances and economy with "wreckless spending and regulatory policies"

Economy 52,845
A Federal election is looming in October so you can expect anything. All parties are looking for leverage. The Federal government and some of the Provinces (especially Ontario) are 2 totally opposite ends of the spectrum. They dont see eye to eye on anything Its not surprising that when the Premier of Ontario kept trying to get a meeting with the PRime Minister hed always find an excuse not to meet with her and avoided her for like a year until finally admiting they have like no common ground to discuss things in well they did sit down for half an hour a few months ago when she kept publically criticizing the Prime Minister and he finally caved in
LeoFameMonster 1,592
Harper who is the Prime Minister has openly disliked Kathleen Wynne and has neglected to acknowledge her as the new Premier of Ontario. And the pension plan is actually a good idea because many people don't save enough for retirement and this will help them to allow a reasonable salary when they retire. There are atleast 2 other provinces that have their own pension plan and they get help from the federal government Steven Harper helps them. He just does not like Kathleen but again is it because she is a lesbian or a woman or both?? because it policies and ideology towards kathleen does not match his actions towards others. He barely meet with her and has spend more time with Vladimir Putin than the second most powerful politician in Canada. So it is no surprise that he is doing this to her.Maybe it is because she is a Lesbian but he is setting himself up to loose Ontario in the election.Any Canadians out there please Vote this coming election and not for Harper. Also please look up who is likely to win between liberal and NDP before voting so that you vote for the winning party. We cannot afford to have a split vote again between liberal and NDP. Watch the polls and vote.

I think Harper hasnt been very nice in neglecting the Premier or doing more to help Ontario However in most cases I tend to agree with Harper more than Cathelene Wyin Like the Liberals totally destroyed our finances and economy. And our hydro lets not even get into that... it was 1 poor choice after another that now has us on the hook for one of the most expensive electrical rates in North America Thats not only making us pay more, but manufactuing which we depend so much of in Ontario is being affected by this and its not helping our competitiveness So Harper makes good points in many of his attacks against Ontario. Few Provinces have deteriorated financially and economically as much as Ontario has in the last 10 years and this has all been under the Liberals

I remember as far back as 2009 when we first went into deficit after the recession they promissed wed be back in surplus by 2015 if they been promissing that for 6 years and dont do it, its gonna look real bad And Ontario is literally a financial mess. Last year it ran a bigger deficit than the Federal Government. So its not surprising they ask for cash. Ontario is like the broke kid asking its parent (federal Government) to bail them out

If or when the majority Conservative government is changed, so will the rules change to represent the new government. Mars..........or bust!

If or when the majority Conservative government is changed, so will the rules change to represent the new government.yes... but the conservatives were in power when they made this promiss and they still are... so they are still on the hook for fulfilling that promiss because if they dont it will look really bad They were only forecasting a surplus of $3 Billion (less than 0.2% of GDP) before oil prices collapsed and on top of that they decided to do income splitting 1 year ahead of schedule (also before the oil prices crashed) i dont know how they will manage a surplus when oi prices are at $43/barrel instead of the $90/barrel or more they forecasted, and with GDP growth below expectations we are probably gonna end up getting a deficit for 1 more year and they wont want to admit that

The conservatives as a party need to be removed. They made such bad choices and we are all paying the price. You are right liberals have made bad choices but conservatives have sold out Canada to the highest bidder. Norway's national energy plan seems to be working for the people there. That's because the oil belongs to them, not to foreign corporations like it does in Canada. And the profits stay in Norway, shared by all Norwegians. But it's too late for Canada now. Big Oil owns Harper and he has sold our oil to the highest bidder. welcome to the new Canada. A meaner and nastier place to be sure. How democratic is it when your leaders bring in legislation by stealth and omnibus bills to hide what they're actually doing? Limiting questions by the media who might have been able to expose some of this had they been allowed to question. Then again, even when the opposition asked questions all one got from our 'government/dicatator' was devious answers and half truths. If for no other reason than to restore some democracy in Canada, we must TAKE BACK OUR CANADA from this pretender Harper.
Miker 5,683
I don't expect another Conservative majority government. I think it will be a Conservative minority government with the NDP in a very important role. Those promises applied by the majority government prior to the election are apt to be changed as we go forth..... If you listen to Justin Trudeau....the budget will balance itself...... LeoFameMonster 1,592
VOTE NDP not for the foreign cooperate interest HARPER CONSERVATIVES who gives Canada away piece by piece to other countries until there is nothing left but a country split into cooperate owned land masses. When will we learn if we give the power away to other countries Canadians will suffer because those countries like china have no interest in the citizens welfare just how much they can take from us. If for no other reason than to restore some democracy in Canada, we must TAKE BACK OUR CANADA from this pretender Harper. i think you are totally off on the whole oil and energy subject #1 on a per capita basis Norway has produced way more oil than Canada. We have 35 million people they only have 5 million. They sell about 4X more oil per citizen than Canada does so we never had the same kind of revenue they did #2 our oil was always more expensive to produce. Oil sands is about the most expensive form of oil, even more than Norways deep sea drilling. Our margin for profits are lower so not as much wealth was generated per barrel here as in norway #3 we have been stuck with a discount Norway hasnt had to endure. We dont have pipelines to give us a diversified market and weve had to get lower prices for our benchmark on top of already being high cost producers. When brent was at $100/barrel and American WTI at $90/barrel, at times we were only getting like $85/barrel for our "Western Canada Select" Our circumstances havent allowed us to save so much money or prosperity like Norway because the situation is totally different. In fact if other parties were in power theyd probably have taxed them more and chocked them and they never would have expanded as much. Our oil companies dont have as much margin for profit as most remember that PS: it does not matter if they are forein owned or not. The royalties they pay government and jobs they provide are the same so it makes no difference.

We cannot rely on our heavily indebted consumers or overheated housing market for growth any longer. The domestic economy is slowing and we need production gain in manufacturing and exports. Corporate tax hikes are the last thing we need now Also the comments Tommas Mulcair made on if we raised retirement age wed be left with less jobs proves he knows nothing of economy... anyone who says that sees it only superficially and does not see macro-economics from the fundamental level He also said the conservatives encouragements for equipement investment would kill jopbs if machinery replaced people. also a myth If he knew anything about the economy and how it truly works, hed understand both of those things he says are myths. If there is a non-confidence vote it all goes back to an election again so there is a lot more interest in pleasing the other parties to avoid that. The Conservative government is not helping with jobs that much or Canadians wouldn't be headed for a recession. There are no idiots in government only those that find idiots to vote for them.
