I still "mourn" the BTW era

This is not an annoying "I want the old Gaga back" thread so if you are ready to not even read the OP and shade me GTFO :kissga:

I was just listening to Born This Way, I realised that I am still remember those times with sadness. It feels like it was not finished. It did not run its course. The way that it all ended suddenly after Marry the Night underperformed and then again when she broke her hip. It is my favourite album and in my honest opinion it deserved to be a much happier era.

I am making this thread to see if some of you guys still feel the same and to let this feeling go, to be fair. I want to listen to that flawless album and be happy for its message and how the visuals and the BTWB were great, I don't wanna remember how there seemed to be a black cloud over her all the time, and I don't mean commercially cause idgaf about commercial success, I mean how most of the people totally misunderstood or hated what she was trying to say with this album and how it affected her plans, she seemed to have planned much more and it was all shut down all of a sudden...

I don't know.

Born This Way is my favorite Gaga album. Everything about it, to me, was perfect. :flutter:

I love how all the songs had a deep meaning/message and I guess that's why I don't like ARTPOP as much.

everything was ****ed up the day she released JUDAS

but she had chance with the Edge of glory, but then she released that video........

after that everybody was waiting for the sleeping giant aka Scheibe to slay the charts or at least make the era interesting again, but then she chose you and I, it literally felt like acid in the face, mess

and finallly a good single choice, Marry The Night, but the world was not here for anything related to BTW anymore, plus that long ass boring video didn't help

The problem why born this way decline was because born this way music was too different imo for the gp

I feel if the album came out in 2013 instead of ARTPOP it would've done better

plus many said born this way focus too much on her gay fans

I agree with you :ohno:

I felt like I fell in love with Gaga a little bit more every day during The Fame, The Fame Monster until Born This Way and I was just amazed by pretty much everything that came out of that era. I literally listened to that album nearly everyday for two years and it still is not repetitive or boring to me.

This is totally part of the reason why I don't really like ARTPOP, I was loving everything she done more and more until she released Aura, which I was unsure on but I liked the direction, then Applause... meeeh, the album is good but it's not as good as any of her past ones for me, especially Born This Way.

I actually feel this way about ARTPOP. The era did not go as planned and it makes me sad that such a great concept was tarnished by everything that happened.

With BTW, even though parts of the era were messy, it just all felt so awesome. I loved Gaga more and more each day and didn't mind the way MTN flopped that much. It still deserved more though.

Agreed.

One problem with Gaga/Interscope is that they tend to drop albums quite fast. I mean, look at her albums before and after.

The Fame and Fame Monster should have had more singles to capitalize on the popularity she had at that time. Look at Katy Perry. People loved teenage dream and her label kept giving them more singles and videos.

Then we have the BTW era. Her best album, best message, best everything. But Gaga seems very dissapointed all of a sudden and cracks under the pressure.

Then we have ARTPOP which was a continuation of that.

IMO btw was a really full era with amazing visuals and lots of promo, but I just hate that gaga believed the hype about how she needs to do something less serious and more frivolous. ARTPOP is a direct result of that insecurity. The cheap EDM sound says it all and the single choices do, too.

All in all, both gaga and interscope need to believe in their work and stop being quitters.

Same. BTW was a defining moment in my life. The way it put my feelings into words about my s-xuality and how I was treated differently because of it was the reason it shot up to my favorite album of all time. I was so excited for it, every time new songs leaked, I would burn them to CDs and give them to my friends. :laughga:

born this way truly her best album and I agree with you ARTPOP seem lyrically a decline imo and I get like gaga didn't add her soul in it

Mainly because we know lady gaga can do so much better than ARTPOP but it was lady gaga way of appealing to the gp agin since born this way was very un radio friendly

To be honest, I was so shocked by how the BTW era ended that I was kind of numb to the ARTPOP era. I was okay with it slaying or flopping, whatever, the BTW era prepared me for everything ARTPOP had to offer.

It is undeniable that the album has saved many people's lives and has impacted out current world. She didn't lie when she said it was album of the decade.

One of the saddest moment of the BTW was when Gaga let her disappointment with how the public reacted the the era show in that sold out concert in London when she went like "Oh, look how Born This Way was a huge flop!". She was trying to drag the critics but it kinda revealed how she was bitter about everything too.
