pretty sure i was using the sales numbers not shipments

Yep, that's why I made that comment. People were referring to different sources for the total number.

I may not be the biggest fan but Taylor works hard, her music may be safe but relatable and she's involved in her music, tours and pretty much anything she does.

Do I think that some other popstars deserve more success than Tay? Yes

Do I wish Tay to have a decline? No

She's gonna grow bigger and bigger for a long time. Maybe when I turn 80 I might see her starting to decline. not any sooner though

I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half

I'm laughing at the pathetic same people eho continously come and like, and post angry posts and still act like they're not mad. I love your devotion, only if you're this devoted to your own fave and make her sales go up instead. Poor you. :lmao:

Whoever is hoping she declines, do you really attain closure and become happy by watching people fail? :wtf: Disgusting. If you don't like her on your TV or radio station, then change the channel. Damn you're all so bitter and hateful.

You'd be surprised how many people want this, someone in particular comes to mind (Who's admitted it before) :stalkga:

They called it a prequel:deadbanana: the title alone was a mess

I guess changing genres completely from Country-pop to 80s-pop is not riské enough for pressed stans, but saying she only writes about failed relationships means you haven't been paying attention.

Although I'm sure at some point, some record from her career won't sell 1M+ records on its first week, yeah. Everyone has had 'flop albums', even Madonna.

Making poppier pop music isn't a risk when she was already doing that after the first couple albums...

I'm sorry that there's nothing else she talks about...she feeds off bad friends/boyfriends just so she can write her next hit/album...you really think Calvin is no different and he doesn't know her history? She uses guys and they use her to come up...

And yes...her flop is coming...maybe not next or after...but it'll happen eventually to every major artist

I feel like, considering how huge 1989 is, whatever's next will be an objective decline. Doesn't mean it'll be a flop, just a lower peak.

Who knows? Maybe she'll just get bigger and bigger. I don't mind, tbh.

3 points in and ready for more

If her and her team play their cards right then no but she's definitely at risk of overexposure. She's everywhere right now, every time you listen to the radio you will probably hear one of her songs, if her team keep pushing her image everywhere people will be bound to be tired of her. Also I know a lot of people weren't happy with her intervening in the Nicki Minaj VMA thing so she just has to be careful.

How can you say anything is for certain? No one thought any artist would achieve the numbers Adele did with 21 ever again and she did it... No one could've probably predicted 1989's success either. I know how much you love to put down artists but it's really not that easy to predict how whole eras will perform before they've even been conceived.

The whole point of everything I've been saying up until now is that NOTHING is for certain. Actually, I believed an album could sell at 21 levels again - every couple of years, an album like this comes along (which makes the melodramatic headlines about 1989 potentially being the last album to go platinum even more laughable). And I could have predicted 1989's success because that album was programmed to be successful. Albums like this aren't made for artistic merit, they're made to sell. I don't actually love to put artists down, it's just that so many are letting me down lately that I have no choice. And I'm always the first one to say that you can't predict an era's success before it even begins. You must be interpreting what I'm saying wrong. Gaga's decline taught me that you can never predict success in advance.

it doesn't matter how good the music is. when the public wants to backlash, it will backlash. it happened to gaga when she got HUGE. it will happen to taylor after her HUGE moment (which is now).

Thats the best way of putting it. Sadly, a flop can occur with an artist's greatest work, which is so ironic.

well, in the 90's Britney was the America's sweetheart, she was "invicible" & we all know how it everything ended

And the country scene it's not the same as the pop scene, country fans are loyal & still buy music, pop fans are more disloyal, they're always looking for someone new to stan, they get bored & change their faves, so.. Taylor yet have to deal with that. Im not sure if her country fans will still buyin ha music

Exactly - Taylor has now been introduced to the world of fickle pop fans. And their loyalty can be very superficial and changeable. They only listen to what's popular, they stop listening to you when you stop being popular and move on to the next big thing. You can see on GGD alone that the forum has a new fave every couple of months, hop on bandwagons and are calling every two-bit celebrity "queen." I remember back when avatars and signatures were a big deal on the site, the place was plastered with Marina sets, then Lorde sets, then Lana sets. But as each one took a break/become a one hit wonder/flopped etc. these sets died out and were replaced by new obsessions. It works in cycles. And I think it's an example of what the pop landscape is all about. Stan for one era, maybe two, then move on after the slightest decline.

Maybe it is a slight sick pleasure we get out of it. There's something deeply satisfying about seeing the career of a celebrity you dislike go down in flames. Is it mean? Yes, but it's not like they'll be out on the streets - they'll still live comfortably. Most artists who haven't had hits in years are still living in mansions, so you can't feel too guilty. The feeling of needing to rant about them is pretty understandable. It's not as easy as "switch off if you don't like them." Some of us live lives where we can't escape. We might work in jobs where there's always a sound system playing the latest hits or live with someone who's a massive fan and won't shut up about them and are blasting their music all the time. I review albums, so I have to listen to all the big releases. I read gossip/media sites, so Taylor will come up constantly and as I'm on GGD, she'll always be talked about. Taylor infiltrates my daily existance whether I like it or not. I'm not going to give up things I love because of it, so I just have to deal with it but there's only so much I can take before letting out frustration. Granted, she's not as insufferable as hurricane Adele. She was everywhere to the point where I was convinced this is what it must be like to be going mad, where everywhere I went and no matter what I did, I saw and heard her. So, no, I don't think it's as simple as "just switch off and they won't exist for you." Cultural phenomenons don't work like that.

I don't pretend like I'm not mad about it. I own my "pressed-ness" proudly, for that is the only way that the celebrities I dislike might be knocked off their perch. If the public take a stand, they might go away. And was that second bit really necessary? This is the smug attitude of Taylor fans I am talking about. It's disgraceful you should say such things on a fansite dedicated to another artist. If you like Taylor so much, go to her boards, don't insult Gaga fans on her own fansite. This should be a sanctuary for Gaga fans, but now it's filled with Taylor fans rubbing her success in our faces.

You'd be surprised how many people want this, someone in particular comes to mind (Who's admitted it before) :stalkga:

No need to be cryptic, just say my name. I won't mind.

Was I talking about Gaga fans? I did not state which fanbase I was talking about, so don't infer it. And if you choose to remain this pressed, get out of her threads and stop insulting Taylor. If your reply is "no", it just means youre just desperate at this point of time just to bring Taylor down. Which is really sad and pathetic. Don't bother replying me, I wont bother check anymore :lmao:

Seeing as we're on a Gaga fansite and Gaga went through a big sales decline, it makes your statement of "if only you were this devoted to your own faves and got her sales up instead" seem to be about her. Even if you didn't mean her specifically, it's an understandable conclusion. I have every right to reply to these threads saying what I think because it's a general thread in a general section. I won't go into Taylor's section or any other place dedicated to her and bring her down. Unlike some people around here, I reserve my indignation for the correct time and place and don't bother the fans in their sacred spaces.

I wasn't talking about you, another member who I will not name, but they know who they are :stalkga:

honestly your posts arent that bad, sometimes you make good points (Even if they are put a bit harshly :rip: ), but you at least say your opinion in a respectable way without spamming the post with emojis and flat out insults

Unlike some people :stalkga:

It's guaranteed that Taylor will flop eventually. Everybody flops. Some people start out their careers as flops. Some people just Magikarp their way through life because flopping is all they can do. At least TayTay started out with good foundations and only went up. She's had nine straight years of success. I applaud her for managing that. :applause::applause:

I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
