Kayla 7,595
I think it was more her image and catchiness of her tunes that made the album so successful. At the height of The Fame days most people didn't even know she had a great voice. I think being able to sing has helped build her credibility and contributed to her success down the road, but TF would have been just as successful without her pipes. Sister 9,907
I feel that The Fame would be, but none of the others would have happened and she would have been a flash in the pan, like that girl who sings Call Me Maybe. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
kaojen 1,571
The Fame would still have been successful. It was heavily auto tuned and you couldn't even hear her vocal talent when she performed them at regular tempo. But, I wouldn't have been a fan. I'm so glad this isn't the case. I do NOT understand how people can be a fan of a "musician" who doesn't write or perform their music well. Then they should be a fan of the songwriters and actual talent responsible. Jussayin. aaronyoji 2,054
yes because those songs aren't written to show off vocals.
Phoebe 158
Probably. The songs didn't showcase her full vocal potential, it was more about the sound of the album and her overall image. She was an interesting mysterious girl with sonically different album from what was on the charts at the time. She caught people's attention because of her image and album, not because of her vocals. That came much later. Hell, even today you have people that say she can't sing. I suppose the general public needs a ballad in order to determine if an artist can sing, but truth be told, half of her discography is very hard to sing, but I guess people don't notice that because it's masked under all the heavy beats and whatnot. Becuase they're interesting. Britney for example, doesn't really write music and she doesn't sing live but she's still entertaining.

kaojen 1,571
I liked Britney in middle school when I didn't care about things like this. But I grew up to become more of a fan of musicians that are actually music artists and are responsible for their music and craft and I now do not understand the appeal of people that are just entertaining. I also find bands that just cover songs in bars by other people a waste. I'd rather see the actual group or have the band's play their own material. But that's just it, I fail to understandand feeling the same as those pepeople do. I like thewhole package, and that's what got me into Gaga.

You began to care, some just don't. I for instance just don't care if Britney lip syncs. The vocals are there, her lips are moving. That'd all I need. In the end, she provides fun music. It doesn't matter to me that she didn't write it. Her shows are a spectacle with amazing dancing, sets, props, etc, who cares if she's not singing? This is the entertainment industry, your job is too entertain.
