Hmmm not really seeing any resemblance lyrically, sonically, critically, or quality-wise. Sorry. :/

We're on page 9 and KatyCats & Co. S.L. still haven't realized that Katy Perry could use Mother Mary as a ghostwriter and she still wouldn't be anything more than a mediocre bop-maker for white girls to bop at their 13th birthday party.

Taylor, otherwise, has accomplished things Katy wouldn't even dream of in her Wildest Dreams ™. A TIME Magazine cover with just her face on it. 7 out of 22 Grammy nominations won -we all know Katy's ratio here-.

Taylor's official debut in pop music has been more acclaimed than Katy Perry's career on it. Maybe it's the fact that Taylor didn't reduce LGBT+ people to plastic bags or the fact that her music doesn't sound like a racist women in her 30s trying to appeal cool to her kids' friends.

Taylor's been able to develope and evolve her sound from Speak Now (which sold +1M albums on its first week) to Red (which also sold +1M albums on its first week) to 1989 (which also sold +1.2M albums on its first week), Katy Perry's whole discography sounds exactly the same.

Stay pressed.

Tays music is not like mozart u know :awkney: if you're trying to say Tay's music is less generic than Katy then you must be delusional tbh, even when i'm not a fan of Katy i can say TD is far better, Teenage Dream song >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1989, you're the one who shouldn't compare the obnoxious & basic 1989 with TD tbh :awkney:

true, Tay could never record a timeless classic like Peacock.:awkney:

I love Katy but lbr, are you really going to argue this? :toofunny: That parents find Taylor more safe and wholesome I 100% agree on, but you cannot say this after Katy served those Sesame Street visuals for her half time performance and her tour, as amazing as they were. Does Taylor has fans that are children? Yes, as any other pop girl, including Katy has. But don't make it out to be as if the whole fan base hangs out at the kindergarten please. Taylor has said repeatedly that she feels pressure from the fanbase to deliver good lyrics as its the one thing they love the most about her music. I doubt children care about that.

Katy does appeal to some pre-teens, but not a lot. Her music, lyrics, looks, and videos are obviously not what parents would find appropriate for their children. They're definitely not targeted at children (only). And just because something is lighthearted, vibrant, colorful, playful and fun doesn't mean it's Sesame Street.

Maybe Taylor feels pressure to don't write edgy, complex, s-xual or innovative lyrics because more than half of her fanbase is made out of pre-teens and young teens who she doesn't want to lose just because her lyrics aren't what appeals to them or their parents except? That's probably what she meant.

it's to be expected when it has double the album sales. :poordat: most people already have the song that way

We still do not know the exact sales for Teenage Dream to date, so trying to compare Teenage Dream & 1989 album sales is not valid.

eh maybe, but this is the new era of streaming and radio where Bad Blood has broken quite a few records. I mean E.T. was more popular but it's not like it's some huge difference.

It is a huge difference. Don't even try to compare E.T. to Bad Blood when it comes to commercial success, impact and hit.

Taylor has referenced s-x in her lyrics multiple times, albeit with more subtlety and tact

"And I'll do anything you say, if you say it with your hands"

We all can't have the lyrical graces of

"I wanna see your peacock-cock-cock" :awkney:

There are tons of little girls under 10, tweens and preteens at Katy's concerts.

"For the pre-teens who filled the Perth Arena, for many of whom this would have been their first concert, Perry's show was a safe introduction to the world of live concerts, away from the risque exploits of recent visiting pop stars such as *Lady Gaga *or *Miley Cyrus *."

This may explain why the little ones enjoy her music so much. It's pretty PG and anything that isn't is covered in a way that goes right over their little heads:

"Despite these detours into CutesyVille, it’s still sometimes surprising to see so many youngsters in the 10 and under range at a Perry show (it’s not as if she came from a Disney movie, even though she’s as bright-eyed and adorable as any animated princess)...

The light groping that accompanied “Legendary Lovers” likely went over the heads of the littlest attendees as well as the ample-bottomed female mummies who playfully spanked Perry during “I Kissed a Girl.”

The tween contingent likely felt a kinship with Perry when she set up at the end of the runway for an acoustic segment – surrounded by many sunflowers...

She prefaced the song with stories of her own struggles – “Sometimes Katy Perry has bad days,” she said (and sometimes Katy Perry refers to herself in the third person, apparently)."
