Justin Bieber shocks fans by pulling out of UK charity concert weeks before headline show at Fusion Festival, just weeks before the charity show.

The star had been due to headline the Friday night slot at the festival, which takes place in Birmingham on 28-30 August and is supported by youth charity the Prince's Trust.

Taking to Twitter the 21 year-old apologised his fans who had been looking forward to seeing the singer perform.

He wrote: "UK beliebers I'm going to make this up to you soon. "

Ready for the backlash, he then added: "And now the Uk press will start to tear me apart. Comes with the job. Love u guys regardless and I will make this up to you."

"I do want to thank the prince's trust for their understanding and I don't take moving any show lightly. I will see u soon UK"

A statement released by Fusion Festival on their Facebook page said they were working on a headliner to replace the star.

"It is with great regret that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber has withdrawn from his performance at Fusion Festival on Friday 28th August 2015. We are now working hard to secure another exciting act for the festival and will hopefully have some news shortly.

UPDATE:

Ed Sheeran is replacing Justin Bieber at Birmingham's Fusion festival.

Due to an "unforeseen issue" Bieber was forced to pull out of headlining the festival, which supports the Prince's Trust, at the end of the month.

He didn't given any further information but said he was disappointed he wouldn't be able to perform and would make it up to UK fans.

Festival organiser, Mike Owen, says Ed agreeing to play the Friday night nearly brought him to tears.

"I've been in this business a long time and it nearly brought me to tears," he says. "It was just a moment of sheer excitement.

"The most-streamed artist in the world last year and he's going to come and do Fusion in Birmingham."

---

This is a big deal, since Fusion isn't really a very big festival, and Ed is happy to play!

Nice replacement :applause:Probably way more exciting, not just for the organiser.

Still weird how Biebs wasn't more specific. What are the circumstances, you prick.

Whenever an artist doesn't give an explanation I always get critical - won't be surprised if Bieber didn't bother rehearsing a show - and realised he had to throw together a headline performance last minute and couldn't be bothered.

How unprofessional of him... With him it's like bad news after bad news. I'd really not like being a fan of his. What a mess.

Ed's better + has a good heart, I've seen quite a few charity related acts of kindness he's done. I hate having to cancel on my friends when I'm sick, let alone an entire festival with my fans for a charity. I just couldn't bring myself to do it!
