Bea Åkerlund, the designer behind the Paparazzi video and also Madonnas Living for Love performance said a few words about the accident at Brit Awards when she hosted a Swedish radio show today.

She was standing behind the stage and saw on a screen how Madonna fell down the stairs. She panicked and felt that time stopped.
"Holy ****" was her first thought. Then she started thinking of what she was supposed to do and what she was going to say to Madonna.
She heard her phone buzzing, people was curious of what happened and wondered if she got fired. Luckily she didn't.

They both knew that the knot wasn't a good idea but they are able to laugh at it today, however they put the cape away for good - "The matador is buried" she said.

She also talked about Gaga and their first meeting for the Paparazzi video. Gaga said that she was going to be more famous than Madonna.
"Yeah sure" Bea thought and laughed.
They became best friends pretty soon and Bea could see herself in Gaga. They traveled round the world together, but it didn't work that long because she had little twins at home and family came first.

Please provide a source :omg:

If this is true then I'm glad they're able to laugh it off now, because Madonna looked like she was going to set fire to the O2 Arena after the fall

Well she's not the designer of the cape, but she did style the performance. The real designer was Armani and he acted like a ****ing douchebag after the accident :smh:

People calling her to ask if she was fired though :rip: Good thing Madonna made it very clear that the accident was more a consequence of the BRITs' decision to extend her walk than the actual clothing.

Do you have a link to the article?

(It's so weird how the article is about the accident...but they bring in Gaga, referencing something from YEARS ago. :fat: )

A knot?  Girl why...

The BRITs forced Madonna to make a longer walk at the beginning of the performance, she had no time to rehearse it and she and her team were afraid that the cape would slide off during the walk and especially on the stairs.

So they made it tighter. And she was almost choked to death :Chica:

Wasn't she shading Gaga recently?

I thought the cape's designer said she wanted to put a little quick-release clasp but Madonna insisted on tying it?

Yeah, she preferred a tie for the dramatic effect. Still, Armani totally threw her under the bus saying it was her own fault and that "we all know" she's difficult to work with. Madonna defended herself by saying that she had rehearsed the loosening of the tie many times and it worked perfectly but that it was simply too late to change the outfit when she heard, like an hour before showtime, that she had to come walking in from an entirely different angle and ran a huge risk of the cape falling off before she reached the stage.

I get that Armani wanted to protect himself from being accused of being to blame for the fall, but still, the fall had nothing to do with the outfit's design and whether or not she wanted a tie, so I don't know, it was just way too aggressive. He should've been happy his cape made global headlines instead of putting down the artist who decided to wear it :smh:

Added an article about the radio show. Didn't do it at first since it is in Swedish.

This article is mainly about the Brit Awards, but Beas radio show was about herself and her career so that's why she talked about Gaga as well
