What happened to this fanbase?

Some people just want more of the kind of music they prefer. Hard to argue with that. 

Some people want a return to feeling good about stanning for a popular pop culture figure.  That's just celebrity worship to me and I'd advise those people to find strength in their own self image apart from how a pop star is doing. 

Some of us are fans of Gaga herself as a unique artist and person and recognize her as a singular talent. We just want to see her explore all her boundaries and see what she can do, however she chooses to do it.  We want to be there and watch her explore her creativity.  Most of these people are most likely themselves creatives and recognize a kindred spirit.

some people are too young and delusional to understand it, you know ? it would make them feel less of a fan, so they choose to behave brainless and they take everything all the way in

it doesn't make u less of a fan really, like people here disagree with her wearing fur & meat and leather and loads of other stuff but as soon as one of us mentions her career or music suddenly we aren't real fans or we apparently think we're manager material, when we're just stating an opinion like others do.

I'm not gonna deny do I want her to make more mainstream music? Yes. Is it because I'm concerned with bragging rights for her success like everyone was during the BTW era? No. It's because I don't want her to sales to decline to the point where her label thinks they've milked her dry and drop her because that means no money for shows, tours, performances, videos and having to do it herself entirely. Do I think myself or any others who want generic music are less of fans? Of course not. For me personally I desire her to make fun generic songs because she is good at it and because in my personal life i desire them from her specifically. Doesn't mean I'm a chart freak or that I'm expecting anything of her, I enjoy the possibility of it happening. If she doesn't do it meh alright, if i don't like the next album meh it's ok. Still a fan.

Am I wrong when I say we used to support and applaud Gaga for doing something different? Remember the transition from paparazzi to bad romance and then to alejandro? Are some of you just going to support and applaud her when she's on top and slaying everyone? Are some of you going to complain and want "another song that slays like poker face or telephone". Why do you constantly reach back into the past instead of dreaming of what could happen?

It's not everybody, but it's still definitely prevalent. The moment her weirdness stopped her from being the mysterious cool girl, and more the really gay activist, a lot of fans on here got itchy.

And not to mention we have thousands of embarrassing fans. Who the hell besides little monsters pretends to be their fave and tweet "insider info"? Like there's no katy fans who do that. It really gets annoying.

Every big name pop girl has embarrassing fans. Katy's fans are busy getting their school supplies for elementary school right now, they don't have time for that mess! Lol,jk, jk If you want to see a messy Katy fan, you don't have to look far...just sayin. ;)

they didn't escalate into messes because we complain, they escalated into messes because some fans can't bare to think some people who're just fans and don't idolise her and have opinions different from their own exist in her fanbase. If anything this fanbase has became too sensitive after she doesn't have chart success behind her anymore.

It escalated into a mess because everyone could see through the "I barely care about Gaga except for her music and have lots and lots of faves, but I'm spending my time in these threads complaining about everything she does, like my life depends on it". People who spend so much time criticising Gaga every chance they get are a different situation than someone who is sharing a negative opinion from time to time.

It's not a big deal that fans aren't here for every single thing Gaga does anymore. I think everyone on this forum still believes in her, and that's the most important thing for a fan to remain a fan.

I think we liked her a lot for her success.

I think Gaga likes her success too and she's working on that.

I don't think she even tries to be different I think she just tries to be the best pop star possible which is why I like her as a pop star.

As a person she can do whatever she wants but her drive to be the best is why I like her as a popstar.

But you're quite guilty of the things you've said in the OP? I really only see you posting about how bad the fanbase is OR that Gaga should be doing rock.

I think it's great we all have different ideas for Gaga as it shows just how diverse of a fanbase we are but I think it's kind of pointless to come for certain fans. It's also why I HATED how a lot of members would jump on members for saying they disliked something, we're here to discuss, not to just go "yep, that's great"

I actually don't think this fan base is as bad as say, Britney's, but I do think there's this frustration from some users that she's not "on top of the world."

What is also annoying to me is that a lot of fans want TF/M or BTW 2.0, but that's understandable and par for the course because that's their only frame of reference when it comes to Gaga and ~slayage, but we can't expect her to keep making the same record over and over again when she's growing as a person and coming in with new experiences. That would just be so static and dull.

I support her because this Jazz Album has proven to the world what I already know.

people fail to realize that she HAS to be successful to be remembered by generations as a legend  -  there is no fukcing escape from that, her music has to be relevant, on the radio, on the charts, everywhere

if she makes some highly artsy but indigestible music, people are not gonna listen to her and she'll fade away as some 2010 "has-been"

and, like you said, it's bussiness - nobody's gonna pay for her promotion if she doesn't bring the money in return - it is like a loan, with a very high interest rate, it's sad, but it's just like it is cause it's bussiness

 

faster you realize she can't really do "an-y-thing" she wants, faster you'll return down to earth BUT

she has her head screwed on - she really can compromise and have both music AND the bling - so let's not act like we can't have both - we had with TFM

so saying she should turn into some hipsterish act and start doing god-knows-what with her music cause only then she can be true artist is a BIG FUKCING NO NO
