Gaga thinks she can out-sing Barbra Streisand

Gaga slayed the Oscars with one of the most beautiful songs in movie history 

Even tho Barbara has a smooth rich tone...Gaga has EXTREME versatility not seen in most singers

Barbra's voice is insanely good. Trust me, I absolutely love Gaga's voice and she has been improving a lot throughout her career. But, Its almost delusional to say Gaga, or any current singer for that matter, sounds better than her. Barbra Streisand has one of the best voices ever.

Barbra is extremely versatile too. The fact that C2C won the Grammy over Barbra doesn't mean Gaga has a better voice. Its also about production, arrangements, duet pairings, originality, ect. Not to mention Barbra is over double Gaga's age and some of her duet partners aren't wonderful singers anymore due to age.

Like you said...Barbara has an amazing voice and I listened to her latest duet album and it was amazing too. However, it's similar to what Tony did in the last album...a lot of SINGERS but no real attention to keeping it sonically interesting...after Gaga's opening song...every song is a filler.

 

Same with Barbara's album...only a few were stand outs even with Barbara on all of them.

 

Tbqh...even tho jazz is Tony's thing, Gaga really contributed to that album being a hit and winning the Grammy over the other nominees. Also, the live band appeal showcased real jazz whereas Barbara's album had studio orchestral elements.

 

Then again...all of this being decided by a board. They don't mean that there word is the validation on good music.

Barabara and Gaga are talented singers and no doubt Gaga will follow a similar path in doing jazz when she's older.

 

But...I do wanna see how Gaga's voice ends up sounding as she gets older...I hate that she smokes and drinks a lot. This could end up turning into a Whitney/Mariah situation. Why do you think Barbara and Celine still sound amazing? They don't smoke and they are strict about taking care of their voices.

I am so worried about this. I remember Gaga said during one of her Lush Life performances that she likes to drink but she is thankful because the one thing that never goes is her voice. I was just thinking to myself, "yea because you are only 29 years old!!!" I just want to shake her and tell her to stop.  You know how teenagers think that they are invincible? I think she feels that way about her voice. She won't be able to continue to get away with smoking and drinking for much longer. Those habits will eventually destroy her voice. There have been many times where her voice cracks or sounds strained and I wonder if its because of damage to her vocal chords.

I'm already hearing more of a rasp on her voice...Gaga's singing during TF days sounded like she had natural auto tune...her voice was clear and crisp still at 23...years later abusing harder d--gs and drinking more has taken a toll already. However, Gag thinks it looks cool to talk about drinking and smoking for the sake of a pic

You know Gaga, she says a lot of things, she's a "talker" and yeah likes to brag even about drinking and smoking, but hey now, the girl is not stupid. She's a VOCALIST, she knows more than us how important it is to take care of her voice and HOW to take care of it. You can tell and see there's much less drinking and smoking going on. We so rarely see her drunk these days (I can't even remember the last time)  Singers don't have to give up drinking and smoking completely, they just have to know the limit and also timing is important, and she sure has learned about that.

you do know that a LOT of her TF performances (especially her big ones like the VMAs, V Festival etc) she did actually use live autotune whether she knew it or not, a good example is her GMTV performance in the UK at the end when she sings "Ohhh Babyyy" and at some the points you can hear the autotune. (Plus GMTV was live)
