Does Gaga actually have bipolar disorder?

Gaga has implied many times that she has some type of mood disorder besides depression. It just seems to me that she is trying to somewhat subtly let her fans know but she doesn't want to be obvious about it so that the media picks up on it.

At at least one Artrave she said that she takes medication for depression and mental illness. Then she said in a bunch of interviews in 2013 that she hears voices (which is actually a symptom of schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder, but not bipolar). I still don't understand exactly what she meant by this. Sometimes when she explains it, she basically says she is very creative and cannot shut her brain off and fully relax. She is constantly getting ideas and hearing melodies and sounds. This makes more sense to me. But there were a few times when she described it almost like true auditory hallucinations. For example, in one interview she described what she experiences as being very disturbing and scary.

(she was describing herself as a child)

“Just things... I would accuse things of happening that people around me didn’t notice were happening. And as I got older it started to make me feel sick, and it still makes me feel sick sometimes". This sounds like more than just being creative and getting a lot of ideas. But then again Gaga tends to exaggerate.

I also remember in the Oprah interview Gaga said she goes through these intense experiences as she tries to release her creativity. She says that she hibernates and beats herself up a bit. She does things that her parent's wouldn't approve of and she says she wouldn't wish this on anybody. It almost sounds like she is talking about a manic or a depressive period that she goes through.

Most recently, Gaga tweeted about that book by Mark Vonnegut, "Like Someone Without Mental Illness Only More So". The book is written by someone with a mental illness and its a memoir about his life. I tried to find the book at Barnes and Noble today and apparently only 2 Barnes and Nobles in America sell it. So, its a rare book to get a hold of. It seems to me that only someone with a mental illness would have a desire to seek out this book and read it.

Then in Atlantic City during Lush Life she said this: "I have this thing where I go up and I go down and I never know when its going to happen".

What do you think?

I suppose anything is possible, but I haven't been keeping up enough to be able to agree or disagree with your hypothesis.

This is just a little conspiracy theory I have but I call dissociative identity disorder. The alter egos. The different accents. The sudden changes in style and ideas.

Mister Gaga

It wouldn't surprise me, and i wouldn't give a ****. I would love her anyway. My mom suffers from schizophrenia and i love her more than life itself :proud:

i think she's maybe got a personality disorder and creativity is a way of justifying it when it comes to many famous people, look how many artists (of art not just music) died and then we found out they had disorders and stuff that could be the source of their creativity.

I think every creative person normally has some degree of mental illness especially those that have outrageous ideas, but i think sometimes having those sets your mind free and your not blind to social issues and stuff. I know it sounds confusing but believe me I understand how it feels haha

Very plausible theory.

edit: She might be talking about her eating disorder when she says "Depression and mental illness".

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Idk, but to me she never implied to have bipolar disorder. That pic on insta doesn't mean anything. I believe she "just" deals with major depression from time to time.

I think the voices, she's just talking about u know, what u think of yourself while u are depressed. Not voices of other persons in her head tho'. I don't think she could be who she is and manage her life and art in terms of management so well if she had extremely difficult mental health disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. We would have noticed a long long time ago if that was the case.

But that's my opinion, we never would know.

before,i believe that gagz had a handler and she underwent some mind altering initiations/workshops but now that i have matured, id say its all because of fame, food limits, and stress/fatigue

It is her personal business and I feel it is best to not judge her, but I sure hope not. I have lost a few friends in my life to this disorder and it is heartbreaking, to say the least about it.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
